Tap New York Craft Beer and Food Festival is a springtime event that celebrates the finest food and drink the Empire state can offer. Part of the event is competitive, with New York state breweries going head to head to find out which beer is best in the state among twelve different categories. And at this year’s event, Keuka Brewing emerged victorious once more, this time for its distinctiveLocal Mocha Imperial Stout.
More than 116 breweries were represented at Tap New York this year, making for a highly competitive field. Keuka Brewing took home the Bronze medal for its Local Mocha Imperial Stout, a beer noted for its sweeter profile that features flavors such as coffee, roasted malt, and chocolate. The actual recipe for this dark brew includes the addition of chocolate malts, roasted barley, and flaked oats plus aging in vanilla, coffee beans, and cocoa nibs for a distinct mocha flavor profile. The product contains 8 percent alcohol by volume.

Keuka Brewing has won at the Tap New York Craft Beer and Food Festival before, taking home its highest honor ever when it was named the F.X. Matt New York State’s Best Craft Brewery in 2014. This helped Keuka gain statewide recognition. The Bronze Medal awarded to Local Mocha Imperial Stout adds further to Keuka’s growing reputation as a place for fine brew.
Local Mocha Stout is served at the brewery’s tap room in Hammondsport, New York and is distributed in draft and in 12 oz. cans throughout Keuka’s distribution footprint, which includes Wegans and Tops markets plus numerous New York bars and restaurants. At present, Keuka Brewing beer is distributed solely in New York state, but this could change very soon, especially if the brewery continues to rack up awards and recognition.
