
Wine and Food Week is one of the greater Houston area’s most anticipated celebrations of fine wine and compatible foods. Now in its 15th year, Wine and Food Week is set for June 3 through June 9, 2019 with multiple events scheduled in the northern Houston suburb of the Woodlands.
Here is a quick summary of events on the schedule during the week:
It’s a Guy Thing: Scheduled for Tuesday June 4 from 7 – 9 p.m. at The Woodlands Country Club, Palmer Course, It’s a Guy Thing will feature Guy Stout, one of the biggest names in Houston wine, and former NFL star and two- time Superbowl champion Jarvis Green. Guy Stout is one of only 215 Master Sommeliers in the world and one of the first Americans to earn this designation. Green, along with his NFL credentials, owns Oceans 27 and both men will be joined by Tim Hanni, founder of MyVinoType.com. Attendees can enjoy bold wines, excellent food, cigars, and craft brews. Tickets to this event are $30.
Dirt-Y Talk: Set for Wednesday, June 5 at 5:30pm, this event features a wine tasting with Oregon Wine Person of the Year, Rudy Marchesi of Montinore Estates. It will take place at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center where guests will learn all about wine and sustainability and how Marchesi has integrated biodynamic and organic farming to help earn him Wine Person of the Year. Guests will enjoy wine tasting and will also get a tasting profile done by MyVinoType.com’s Tim Hanni, who happens to be the author of “Why You Like the Wines You Like” and is an expert on wines and personalities. Tickets to this event are $45 per person.
H-E-B Wine Walk: Scheduled for Thursday, June 6 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm, this is a more casual event that features savory bites, wine, craft beer, and live music by Mango Punch. The event will take place in Market Street’s Central Park and craft beer fans will be happy to know that beer options will be plentiful at the Ben E. Keith Craft Beer Garden, which features 14 craft brewery tasting tents. There is also a VIP Room, GOYA Food’s Chef Pantry, and over 25+ food tasting stations. Tickets to this event start at $40 with VIP tickets going for $75 per person.
Ladies of the Vine Tasting, Luncheon & Panel Discussion: Presented by Celebrity Cruises, this wine- centric educational session is scheduled for Friday, June 7 from 12 noon to 3 p.m. at The Club at Carlton Woods. Some of the top ladies of wine, such as Master Sommelier Gillian Balance and Winemaker at Willamette Valley Vineyard Gabi Prefontaine will be present to answer questions. The panel will be moderated by Tim Hanni. Tickets are $85 per person.

Sips, Suds & Tacos: This casual food and beverage extravaganza takes place on Friday, June 7 from 6pm to 9pm. It’s not only a perfect excuse to munch on tacos and wash them down with beer, it is also a contest with a trophy awarded to the best taco in show. This event takes place at the Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center and tickets go for $30 per person.
Truth Talk Seminar and Tasting: Scheduled for June 7 at 7pm and held at the Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center, this is an event designed for the serious wine lover. It features Wine Enthusiast Wine Maker of the Year, the Michael David Winery, and guests can meet the winery’s founder, Michael Phillips, Director of Wine Operations, Adam Mettler, and VP of Operations Kevin Phillips and sample the wines that helped vault this winery to the top. Tickets to this event are $45 per person.
The Wine Rendezvous Grand Tasting & Chef Showcase: This is the main event! Scheduled for June 8 from 7pm to 10pm, this food and wine tasting features hundreds of wines and a host of culinary treats created by top talents from the U.S., Caribbean and Latin America. Topping off the tasting will be the presentation of the title of GOYA Foods Chef of Chefs Awards and a $5,000 cash prize! Tickets for the Grand Tasting are $125 per person.
With so many varied events, Wine and Food Week is a must for lovers of food and drink. Many excellent hotels exist in the Woodlands, Texas area and if you’re coming from out of town, you will be happy to know that the event takes place not far from Bush- IAH International Airport.
