All the beer lovers out there must often feel a little spoiled for choice! With such a huge range of new craft beers available and more breweries opening every day, there’s always much to sample. Whether you’re tasting beers at your local tavern or braving new brews in far away countries, these five apps are a great go- to for all the beer connoisseurs.
1 . Untappd
Untappd is an awesome app which lets you share breweries, venues and beers with friends. You can create a list of the beers you like and get notifications when your favourite spots put new beers on the menu. Discovering beers in different countries and styles earns you badges within the app. With Untappd you get to rate the beers you’re drinking and share your pictures. There’s also a handy feature whereby the app suggests similar beers to the ones you like. You can track your beers by simply scanning a barcode plus you can even use the app to call an Uber.
2. Drizly App
Drizly is a great app for the beer lover who prefers to stay on the couch. This app will deliver beers directly to your door in under an hour. There’s a great range of craft beers, with breweries like Sierra Nevada, New Belgium, Oscar Blues, Victory, and Dogfish Head. Stay in the warm, tap a button or two, and get your beery fix. The app is pretty reasonably priced and there are a range of other alcoholic drinks available if you fancy a night off the beer.
3. BeerAdvocate App
With the BeerAdvocate App, named simply ‘Beers’, users can review, add beers, and search for key information on beers of their choosing. You can check the alcohol content and style, too, and discovering other tasting facts and opinions. There’s an in-app browser so you can take a look at brewery sites while still inside the app. BeerAdvocate started back in 1996, it’s an online community which has gradually become a leading go-to resource for everything beer related. Whoever said beer wasn’t a hobby was very wrong indeed!
4. Beer Pad
Beer Pad is like a digital notebook to store all those excellent beers and ales you’ve sampled from all over the world. There are plenty of handy options including adding photos and info about percentage of alcohol and the breweries themselves; searching beers online; giving ratings; planning your beer haunts; and sharing with friends on social media. You can also auto-fill notes each time you add them. The app attempts to find matches while you are typing the name of your beer. With this app, you’ll be hopping from one beer-spot to the next until the early hours. (Just don’t forget to get yourself some good Civet Coffee for the morning)!
These apps are all super useful for those beery nights out, but don’t forget to use them if you visit a brewery too. Lastly, be sure to check out the top beer festivals in the world, to expand your hoppy horizons further!
