Accessorize for your Super Bowl Party with BigMouth

Super Bowl 50 is just around the corner and beer lovers everywhere are gearing up for a day of rooting, cheering, hollering and, of course, drinking. Beer is in integral part of every Super Bowl occasion and there is a business that caters to football accessory needs with a penchant for novelty. The company is called BigMouth, Inc. and they happen to make a few items for beer lovers, some of them ideal for a Super Bowl Sunday party.

I found that BigMouth has several different items made specifically for beer drinkers and after looking them over, I selected two of them: The Bottoms Up Football Beer Mug and the Football Inflatable Cooler. They actually sell many novelty items, from beer glasses to beer belts and more, but these two items seemed like the most practical for someone with my lifestyle and needs.

The first item I popped out of the box and put to use was the Bottoms Up Football Beer Mug. This is a plastic mug and very lightweight. It’s made from polycarbonate plastic and needs to be washed before used, but after undergoing a good scrubbing, there won’t be any scent or taste of plastic, so it’s ready to use.

The Bottoms Up Football Beer Mug holds about 18 ounces, so it’s large enough to accommodate a pint can or bottle of beer without overflowing. The inside is shaped like a football and it actually holds more liquid than expected. Recalling my high school geometry formulas, conical shapes hold less volume than they appear, but this mug is different. It doesn’t look very big, but pour a standard 12 ounce bottle or can of beer inside and you will see just how large it truly is. The double wall construction is nice because it eliminates condensation and keeps beer cold longer. And since it’s made from plastic, it won’t break and is perfect for someone like me who likes to drink beer poolside in my backyard.

Keeping the Beer Chilled

Next on my item list is the Football Inflatable Cooler. This item has more limited usefulness than a beer mug, but it could come in handy at parties. To prep it for use, you have to blow it up and I can say from experience that it does take a good deal of lung power. The reason isn’t so much the large size, it’s because the squeeze- and- exhale style opening doesn’t allow much space for your breath to flow inside. Yes, this is nice in some ways because it means you don’t have to cover the hole or otherwise worry that air will escape between breaths. It seals so well that it holds in the air with no problem, but it does take some effort to inflate completely.

As for its use, this cooler is a fun novelty item for parties. The football shaped design is bound to be a hit at your next tailgate and it does have enough depth to bury cans and most bottles below the ice, even if the cans or bottle are standing straight up. The inside isn’t very big, so don’t expect to empty a full case of beer and hide all 24 containers in the central opening. It isn’t large enough for that, but it is big enough for smaller needs of, say, 12 cans/bottles or fewer.

The Football Inflatable Cooler is fun for outdoor use, but I would be very wary of using it inside the home. The reason is obvious- it’s nothing more than a flimsy inflatable piece of plastic and because it is unstable, it is likely to spill when you lift it from a table. I suppose if you’re careful and get someone to help, you might be able to transport it to a sink or outside to empty. But one false move and the melted ice will spill everywhere. There is no drain opening so you have no choice but to lift it, carry it someplace, and dump the water after use. This is why I recommend using it only outside, where spills won’t matter. Oh, and since it is made from plastic, it may develop leaks which could result in an instant disaster. If you detect a leak when the cooler is in use, you must act quickly. There is a small patch included to stop leaks and you never know when you may need it, so keep it handy.

Accessorize with BigMouth

Novelty items have their usefulness and BigMouth, Inc does sell its share of fun and silly items. This manufacturer sells novelty items for use in the kitchen, bathroom, home and office, and much more and some of the things BigMouth sells do look amusing and would make fun gifts.

I found the Bottoms Up Football Beer Mug a useful item that most any football fan and beer drinker will enjoy. I like that it cannot break and is condensation resistant, not to mention the large size that holds more beer than you would guess. The Inflatable Beer Cooler, while not as useful, still makes for a fun addition to a party as long as you keep its limitations and risks in mind.
