Austin Texas based Adelbert’s Brewery is more than just a place that brews fine Belgian- style ales, it is also a business that recognizes the importance of philanthropy, as noted by the brewery’s recent donation to the Breast Cancer Resource.
Beginning in 2015, Adelbert’s Brewery decided to pledge a portion of proceeds from sales of its Hibiscus Saison, one of the brewery’s Whimsical series beers, to help in the fight against breast cancer. The charitable effort continues in 2016 and now that sales have been tallied, Adelbert’s Brewery is excited to announce a donation of $5,583.50 to the Breast Cancer Resource. Adelbert’s General Manager Sarah Haney is proud of what this fundraising effort has accomplished, especially since it hits close to home for her personally.
“It is humbling to see how something that started small to honor my mom as a breast cancer survivor has grown into project with momentum to raise money to help so many women,” said Haney.
Breast Cancer Resource Executive Director Ray Anne Evans commends Adelbert’s Brewery for its dedication to such an important cause.
“The Adelbert’s Brewery team is truly dedicated to the work we do in the community. Since 2015, they’ve donated over $8,000 for BCRC services,” said Evans. “Their passion for our shared cause is evident not only in the funds they’ve raised, but also in their decision to put our organization’s name on every can of their Hibiscus Saison. To me, that says a lot about a company’s commitment to our mission. Their investment will go a long way to help improve the lives of local women with breast cancer. For that, we are tremendously grateful.”
Breast Cancer Resource can certainly use these much needed funds, but this is only one of many charitable causes supported by Adelbert’s Brewery. According to Adelbert’s records, the brewery has donated to over 100 different non- profit organizations in the 2016 year. Next year, Adelbert’s plans to expand its efforts with a special canned blonde ale, with a portion of proceeds dedicated to coastal conservation efforts.
Breweries are often praised for their philanthropic efforts and Adelbert’s Brewery has shown once again that its motives go far beyond brewing beer and increasing profits.
