Best Little Brewfest in Texas was held on Saturday, June 18, 2016 in Lewisville, TX and a total of 28 different breweries emerged victorious. Austin- based Adelbert’s Brewery was one of the most decorated at the festival, taking home a Gold Medal for both its Travelin’ Man Belgain IPA and Dancing Monks Dubbel as well as the highly coveted Best in Show Award for Travelin’ Man.
The Best Little Brewfest in Texas is one of several up and coming competitive beer events in the state of Texas and it has only been around since 2013, so don’t worry if the name doesn’t ring a bell. The festival is 100% charitable in nature and proceeds benefit Cloud 9 Charities with funds designated specifically for Alzheimer’s Respite Care and Teen Suicide Prevention. The Best Little Brewfest in Texas is, therefore, a great place to learn about beer, sample some new suds, and discover some award- winning beers you may not have tried before. This festival is only three years old, but continues to grow each year. The 2016 event included more than 100 breweries, nine distilleries and a winery.
For Austin’s Adelbert’s Brewery, the awards for these two beers come on the heels of previous awards at other events, but they are the first Best Little Brewfest in Texas medals for either beer. Here is a quick description of the two winning brews:
Travelin’ Man– This Belgian IPA is deep golden in color with a floral and fruity nose. The flavor profile features biscuit- like malts and a complex finish. Travelin’ Man previously took home a Gold Medal at the Craft Beer Awards and the two awards at Best Little Brewfest in Texas bring the beer’s award/medal count to three.
Dancin’ Monks– An Abbey Dubbel, Dancin’ Monks is a clean, malty brew featuring aromas of plums and raisins. The fruity components follow through to the taste and are joined by flavors of sweet malts and a touch of booze. Dancin’ Monks has won several awards during its years of production, including a Gold Medal from the Craft Beer Awards, Gold Medal from the Artisan Awards, and a Bronze Medal from the Commonwealth Cup. Factor in the recognition received at Best Little Beerfest in Texas and Dancin’ Monks now has four medals.
