Pets add so much to our lives but thousands of our four- legged friends remain without a home. This is why pet adoptions are so important and Intrinsic Smokehouse and Brewery, located in Garland, Texas, wants you to support pet adoptions and enjoy a few glasses of craft beer at Barks, Brews, & BBQ, a pet- friendly occasion for you, your dog, and the entire family.
When and Where
Barks, Brews, & BBQ is scheduled for Saturday, September 17 between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. The event will take place at Intrinsic Smokehouse and Brewery, located at 509 W. State St., Garland, Texas. The event is free to everyone and guests are encouraged to bring their dogs along for the experience. Donations are welcome and for a small $20 contribution, guests age 21 and up will receive a commemorative glass and three chips, each good for a fill up of your favorite beer. Donations can be made at the door or by purchasing a ticket online through Eventbrite.
Family Fun and More
Barks, Brews, & BBQ is a celebration of three things that make life better: dogs, beer, and food. Friends of Rowlett Animals, a Texas pet adoption agency, is partnering with Intrinsic Smokehouse and Brewery for this special event featuring craft beer, pet adoptions, and delicious food. Pets will be present, all of them just waiting to find a new home, hopefully yours.
Even if you don’t have any immediate interest in pet adoption, there will still be plenty of fun in store at Barks, Brews, & BBQ. Current pet owners can check out the pet merchandise available from on- site vendors like Tail Waggin’ Biscuits and Bones, Scentsy, and others. There will be a prize raffle, too, and a mobile vet will be present between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. at nearby Roach Feed and Seed to answer pet related questions, offer advice, etc.
For the Love of Pets
Pet adoption holds a special place for us at Great Beer Now for many reasons, but chiefly because our present dog became a member of the family through adoption at an event similar to Barks, Brews, & BBQ. We knew we wanted a dog and at one point, we considered selecting a breed and then looking for a breeder to match. Then, we realized that there are millions of great dogs in need of a home and had a change of heart. It made more sense to adopt so we attended a few events and in a very short time, my kids fell in love with a male Vizla/shepherd mix by the name of Toby. We took him home for a trial period and he immediately won us over.
