Alamo Drafthouse has made a name for itself as one of the first theaters in the nation to combine the experience of a first- rate movie theater with the deliciousness of craft beer. The Austin Texas- based theater chain has also made a name for itself as a collaborator on craft beer and its latest partnership happens to be Zest Burster Citrus IPA, a beer brewed with Colorado’s Odell Brewing.
With a name like Zest Burster Citrus IPA, you just know this beer is going to serve up some delicious citrus accents and this brew does exactly that. The beer is brewed using Citra and Cascade hops and it will be sold at select Alamo Drafthouse theaters in Arizona, Colorado, Missouri, Nebraska, and Texas.
John Gross, Alamo Drafthouse Director of National Beer Promotions, says the new beer is one that goes well with any movie viewing, but he recommends one in particular.
“This is a refreshing beer that’ll pair nicely with ANY movie watching this summer at Alamo Drafthouse, but it’ll go especially well with Sir Ridley’s deep space movie,” says Gross. “We’re extremely proud to be serving this creatively hop-forward beer from such an innovative and respected brewery like Odell.”
Zest Burster Citrus IPA is far from being the first beer brewed between Alamo and Odell and it’s doubtful it will be the last. This is actually collaboration number three and Odell Head Brewer Bill Beymer says this beer is a complex tribute to the wonderful flavor of citrus.
“Citra and Cascade hops are renowned for their bright, tongue-biting flavor profiles,” explains Beymer. “These beauties were added throughout the brew, after the brew, and even after fermentation, along with a healthy dose of orange zest for good measure. Zest Burster explodes with aroma and complexity.”
Zest Burster Citrus IPA is a limited release, draft- only beer that will be sold at Alamo Drafthouse and a small number of other locations. The beer will not be brewed again, so be sure to make your way to Alamo Drafthouse and get your lips on this beer before supplies run out.
