Ohio is home to more than 150 craft breweries, but there is always room on the store shelves for more craft beer from other states, especially of the beer is brewed by an award- winning operation noted for consistency and quality. One such brewery is Alaskan Brewing of Juneau and starting in June, 2016, Ohioans everywhere will see this new beer in stores, restaurants, and taverns across the state.
Partnering with Alaskan Brewing will be an assortment of distributors. Nothing has been set in stone just yet, but Alaskan Brewing anticipates that Columbus Distributing, Heidelberg Distributing, Matesich Distributing, House of La Rose, and R.L. Lipton Distributing will sign deals very soon.
Starting off, Ohio beer lovers will find Alaskan Amber, Icy Bay IPA, and Hopothermia Double IPA in retailers statewide. As the summer progresses, more beers are likely to be added.
The distance from Alaska to Ohio is quite lengthy and Alaskan Brewing anticipates a spike in production and shipping needs. To prepare for the broadened footprint, the Juneau based operation has invested heavily in infrastructure and now has in place what it feels is necessary to meet increased demand. Ohio is Alaskan Brewing’s first new state for distribution in about two years. The last states added were Michigan and South Dakota, both brought on board in 2014. This brings Alaskan Brewing’s total distribution to 18 states and also marks the furthest eastward expansion to date.
Alaskan Brewing Co. was founded in Juneau, Alaska, nearly 30 years ago by Marcy and Geoff Larson. With help from a group of investors, Alaskan Brewing was born. It was the first brewery in Juneau since prohibition and, believe it or not, only the 67th independent brewery at the time. The United States now has over 4,000 independent breweries and many have drawn inspiration from Alaskan Brewing and its assortment of quality beers.
Cheers to Ohio and cheers to Alaskan Brewing for answering the Buckeye call and expanded into another state!
