These days of quarantine have not been kind to lovers of craft beer. Sure, we can purchase beer at our local grocery stores or grab a growler or crowler of beer to go from a nearby brewery. But much of the nation hasn’t been able to visit an actual brewery for quite some time and, as most craft beer fans agree, visiting a brewery, meeting people, and talking to like- minded craft beer lovers is the essence of the craft beer community.
Note: Goods or services may have been received in exchange for this blog post, but the thoughts and opinions are exclusively those of Great Beer Now.
There is something to be said, however, for drinking beer from home. It provides an opportunity to better examine your beer, often in a quiet environment free from distractions. Getting an assortment of beer to sample can be accomplished at your local store, but if you feel you have exhausted the possibilities and would rather leave the choosing to someone else, an excellent option is the Microbrewed Beer of the Month Club, found online at www.beermonthclub.com
Bring on the Brew
Microbrewed Beer of the Month is several different clubs in one, but let’s talk first about the beer. The club has expanded over the years and now offers multiple beer clubs to suit your specific beer drinking desires:
- U.S. Microbrewed Beer Club
- International Beer Club
- U.S. and International Variety Beer Club
- Hop Heads Beer Club
- Rare Beer Club
Each of the five clubs will send you a dozen 12 oz. bottles of featured beer each month, carefully selected to match the club of your choosing and to ensure the highest levels of quality. If you select the Rare Beer Club, your selections will arrive in 750 ml bottles, with either one, two, or three bottles of two different beers.
These clubs offer excellent flexibility, both for frequency of the shipments and payment options. You can select as few as two shipments to start off and you can opt for monthly, bi- monthly, or quarterly shipments. You can also choose to pay for everything up front or pay with each shipment.

When Beer Isn’t Enough
Microbrewed Beer of the Month Club started in 1994 and it has since expanded to include more clubs:
- Wine of the Month Club
- Gourmet Cheese of the Month Club
- Chocolate of the Month Club
- Cigar of the Month Club
- Flower of the Month Club
The above clubs can be joined or gifted all by themselves, but for added pleasure, I recommend combining two club memberships. I love gourmet cheese and love drinking a hoppy ale with my cheese, so most recently, I got shipments from the Hop Heads Beer of the Month Club and the Gourmet Cheese of the Month Club. The combination of flavorful, often funky cheese and a well- hopped ale was a taste sensation perfect for these days being cooped up in the homestead. I almost forgot that I was stuck at home and with quality treats such as these at my fingertips, frankly, I really didn’t care.
At Your Doorstep
Microbrewed Beer of the Month Club is one of the original, if not the original beer of the month clubs. I have received beer shipments from this club at several different points over the past decade or so and it’s great to see that the club has expanded to so many different beer options. The original U.S. Microbrewed Beer of the Month Club is a good place to start, but the other clubs are excellent options as well, depending on your tastes.
The best thing about the Microbrewed Beer of the Month Club is the great care that goes into each shipment. Here at Great Beer Now, receiving shipments of beer is a regular part of life and while I would like to say that every shipment arrives intact, I would be lying if I did. Often, a bottle will be broken, a beer can will be dented and will have leaked, or a shipment will not contain all of the beers that were promised. There is no such issue with the Microbrewed Beer of the Month Club. Everything arrives in top condition with the exact products as promised. If it doesn’t, they have a customer service line you can call, for quick resolution. The same is true with the Gourmet Cheese of the Month Club. Your cheese will arrive slightly chilled, fresh, and ready for consumption. If not, just call the support line and they will make things right. I haven’t experienced the other clubs, but I have no doubt that they all maintain the same levels of quality.
Being stuck at home is no fun, but the good news for beer drinkers is that you can get delicious craft beer along with gourmet cheese, wine, chocolate, cigars, and flowers all delivered to your home with the Beer of the Month Club and its several affiliate clubs. Visit www.monthlyclubs.com yourself and give one or more of these clubs a try. The quality, convenience, and customer service make this one of the best monthly clubs for beer and other goods and it’s a service I highly recommend.
