Best Beers to Pair with Lobsters

Among seafood options, few are more satisfying than butter-soaked lobsters on a hot summer day. The perfectly cooked crispy crustacean needs to be washed down with just the right beverage – and what’s better than a cold pint of beer? It leaves us with the question of what are the best beers to pair with lobsters?

It is not easy to say which is the best beer with lobster. However, the right beer can amplify a freshly cooked lobster meal. Many bartenders and cooks have suggested the following beers, which are known to be lobster’s beverage soul mate.

Sapporo

A lighter beer than usual will complement and intensify your lobster’s taste. This Japanese Ale helps in refreshing your palate and taste buds with its subtle tangy flavor. The lobster must be cooked to a crisp in handsome amounts of butter balanced by the beer’s lightness. The two varying blends of taste combined make for a divine experience.

Tired Hands Trendler Pils

The heaviness of the butter consumed with the lobster does not overwhelm your palate with a pint of Trendler Pils. The distinct bitterness of this beverage perfectly balances out all the flavors. It is recommended that the lobster must be cooked with high tones of spices to savor the tanginess that comes with the beer.

Firestone Walker Pivo Pils

The perfect hoppy pilsner to pair with a freshly cooked lobster. The hops in this beer provide a clean floral and herbal taste from the hops that go well with the lobster’s light sweetness. To cook the lobster to perfection with this pilsner, it must be seasoned with dill, lemongrass, and parsley. The fresh flavors of the cooked crustacean and your beverage will elevate your pleasure in enjoying this meal.

Wylam Jakehead IPA

The distinct sappy and citric flavor of this beer will heighten the taste of your succulent lobster. A buttered lobster tail with the side of a Wylam pint is enough to make for a perfect lunch on a sunny day. Adding cayenne pepper or smoked paprika to your lobster to spice up your meal would heighten the experience.

Sierra Nevada Summer Fest

Its dry and crisp flavor helps in striking a balance that does not intensify the flavors of your lobster. A lobster cooked with sweet undertones and butter always goes well with the Sierra Nevada because it helps maintain the essence of the meat itself. At the same time, it keeps its strong taste prominent.

Tecate

Your lobster should be cooked simply with the tanginess of lemon seasoning. Tecate is the best beer to pair and supplement a light meal of boiled cooked lobsters. Unlike most cooked lobsters, it would be best to keep its texture soft with slight undertones of butter so that you won’t overdo the meal.

Augustiner Helles

Among softer and lighter beers, it is most suitable with a delicately cooked lobster. With its mild flavors, the carbonated beverage steals up the sweet taste of the lobster without overpowering the taste buds. Herbal seasoning of parsley and lemons on your lobster would suit the lightness of the beer.

Saison

Not a specific beer, but a style with agreeable, versatile flavors that go well with any lobster, whether boiled or grilled. For a top-notch meal, it is recommended that a lobster topped with cheese would make a meal like no other with a cold pint of Saison beer, making it one of the best beers to pair with this seafood.

Portland Maine’s Allagash White Beer

Wheat beers are known to be best paired with lobsters. For this combination, your lobster must be cooked with notes of coriander and citrus flavors. However, keep in mind not to overdo the lemon seasoning as it might overwhelm the wheat flavor in your beer. Light seasoning is what will balance the two flavors.

Apparently I know nothing about beer. I love a good IPA and am going to a craft beer festival at the end of the month – I’ll be keeping an eye out for some of these to try!

Oh, I can definitely see Tecate going well with lobster. They’re both great tropical flavors.
