Biscayne Bay Brewing, a brewery situated practically walking distance from the Miami, Florida International Airport, is about to expand its reach, sending its beers further south and north into new regions of the Florida peninsula.
Biscayne Bay Brewing first opened its doors in 2014 and since that time, the focus has been on localized distribution. Like with most other brewing startups, Biscayne Bay kicked off distribution by serving local bars, restaurants, and hotels. Also, like with most breweries, Biscayne Bay started off as draft only. There was no bottling or canning as the small brewing operation slowly made its mark on the craft community via kegs and tap handles exclusively.
With the popularity of Biscayne Bay beer growing each month, customers eventually requested that the beer be made available in bottles or cans for at- home and related consumption. With the aid of a Martin Robotics bottling machine, Biscayne Bay is now packaging its beer in 12 oz. vessels for the first time. Biscayne Bay president Jose Mallea has anticipated this moment from the brewery’s inception.
“From the day we began brewing in September 2014 we have been looking forward to this moment, when we can share our delicious hand-crafted beers with the entire South Florida Community via bottles,” said Mallea.
Biscayne Bay Brewing will distribute its beers in six packs at Publix supermarkets from Indian River County to Key West. Select Total Wine & Spirits, Safeway, Whole Foods, and Milam’s Markets will also carry the beer in bottles. And if you live near the brewery in Doral, Florida, by the Miami airport, you can obtain bottles to go there as well.
Mallea says the move to bottles is an important next step, but it’s only the beginning.
“This is a big milestone for us, but we continue to push forward and innovate the process as well as seek opportunities to expand our operation so we can offer our beers to the entire state of Florida and beyond,” said Mallea.
