Homebrewing is a rewarding hobby and if you have ever given it a go, you know that the results can be extremely satisfying. Unfortunately, homebrewing can easily turn out less than satisfactory and there are numerous points in the process when things can go terribly wrong. Technology, however, is making tremendous progress in the homebrewing arena and one new product designed to cure your homebrew blues is BrewArt, an automated personal brewing system that just launched a Kickstarter campaign.
What sets BrewArt apart is that it’s the first completely automated brewing system. This perfect example of technological utilization and improvements provides you, the budding homebrewer, with the ability to brew, monitor, and control your homebrew all the way through the process using your smartphone. You can even keg and dispense your beer without the need for CO2, for even more convenience. BrewArt Founder Scott Harris says this high tech machine is perfect for those who love the idea of homebrewing, but don’t like the element of uncertainty.
“Do it yourself brewing is a rewarding experience when done well, but it is a time-intensive labor of love that can be hit and miss. BrewArt gives you the satisfaction of making your own amazing beer, without all of the long hours and hard work. We created BrewArt for fans of beer like us who desire pub-quality craft beer, but believe that technology should help us simplify the process of making it,” said Harris.
BrewArt, with its currently active Kickstarter campaign, is a combination high- tech brewing machine and equally high- tech dispenser. The BeerDroid kicks things off by brewing the beer with the touch of a button. Once the process is completed, BrewFlo dispenses the freshly brewed suds directly into your glass in pub- like fashion. BrewArt comes complete with BrewPrints, which are specially combined ingredients and programming processes to deliver beer that matches your desired style.

Here are some specifics of the BeerDroid system:
- 10 liters (approx. 2.6 gallons) of beer brewed per batch.
- Full temperature control, for the perfect ale or lager
- End of Fermentation Technology that monitors beginning and ending of fermentation electronically, so that you won’t have to track it manually.
- Wi-Fi controlled process that lets you, the active homebrewer, monitor and control the process from most anyplace.
- Upgrades that ensure your BrewArt machine continues to brew beer as efficiently as any new technology will allow.
- Retail price point of around $799
These are some of the features of the BrewFlo tapping system:
- Dispensing technology that delivers beer to your glass without the need for CO2.
- Full temperature control to ensure that your amber ale, pilsner lager, or English porter is served at the appropriate temperature for the style.
- Oxygen free system, ensuring that beer remains fresh for a longer period of time.
- Disposable beer lines and keg liners, so there is no need for constant cleaning and sanitation. You just add new ones as needed, for the freshest and cleanest beer possible.
- Retail price point of around $699
Brewprints provide pre- packaged beer ingredients that make brewing that much simpler. Here are some of the features of these ready-to-use beer sleeves:
- Beer programming that establishes the brewing profile from beginning to end of the brewing process, all the way through to storage.
- Beer profiles that are uploaded directly to the BeerDroid, using the free BrewArt app.
- Elements that allow the creation of customized beers using all- natural ingredients.
- Enhancers that work in synergy with the Elements to product just the right level of body, mouthfeel, alcohol content, etc
- Hops that span a wide range of flavors to better define your beer’s own personality.
- Yeasts that are specially developed to produce the ale or lager of your choosing.
- Primers that naturally carbonate the beer without the need for a CO2 cartridge.
Scott Harris says the Kickstarter Campaign will help the business as it strives to improve on every last detail of BrewArt and its many components.
“We are launching on Kickstarter to enable us to finalize a few additional items specific to the US market. We are in the final stages of revising internal components to meet US market specifications, certificates, and approvals. We are also finishing our packaging, revising instructions and software modifications. Lastly, we are adding to our robust line-up of beer styles, making sure to include additional styles that suit the US market. We are hopeful, with fan support, to have all of this completed and ready for us to start shipping to backers this September,” said Harris.
At Great Beer Now, we have experimented with homebrewing in the past but frankly found it too time consuming and too open to error. With BrewArt, these worries have been resolved through application of modern technology and all of its wonders. Visit the Kickstarter campaign page today, make a pledge, and get ready to enjoy some of the tastiest and easiest- to- make homebrew you’ve ever experienced.
While I like the idea of streamlining the process, I’m not sure how I feel about these “press-n-go” type of brewing systems.
For people who want to say that they “made” their beer and want somewhat of a homebrewing feel, it might work. I’m assuming that is there go-to market – those who like craft beer and want to make their “own” without the hassle.
I’d be interested to try one of these (or something like PicoBrew), but as for me, I’ll stick with the old fashioned way of homebrewing 🙂
I know where you’re coming from. The convenience of a machine like this is appealing, but there is something to be said about making homebrew the traditional way, through your own creative labor.
