Highland President Leah Ashburn says this newer beer has become an instant hit with the craft beer crowd and both customers and theHighland staff look forward to another release.
“Black Watch was an overnight sensation last year. When the pilot batch was on tap, there was daily talk among our team. We had this totally natural and exciting staff engagement around this beer. Then the public release created an instant following,” said Ashburn. “It’s so much fun to see people react to the chocolate sensations, from the first sniff through the finish.”
Black Watch Double Chocolate Milk Stout was originally conceived in Highland’s own Pilot Room and was a joint effort among Highland’s staff, lead bartender J. Unger, and pilot brewer Paul Rollow. The distinctive chocolate character was a huge success with the staff and consumers, who could not seem to get enough of that cocoa- rich flavor.
Those who live in the Asheville, North Carolina area are encouraged to stop by the brewery on Black Friday, November 25, for first dibs on the new beer. The taps will be flowing from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. and customers can purchase 4 packs to go, if they like. The party will include live music starting at 6 p.m. plus there will be local food trucks on site. Following the launch event, Black Watch Double Chocolate Stout will slowly make its way to stores and taverns across Highland’s nine-state distribution network.
