Independence Day is fast approaching. On July 4, 2016, Americans everywhere will celebrate the 240th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence with firework displays, barbecues, family gatherings, and other acts of remembrance. Americans will also turn to their favorite beverage and for myself and millions of others like me, the beverage of choice will be beer.
A certain other beer- one produced on a massive scale and sold worldwide- is temporarily going by the name “America” in an effort to drive sales and associate itself with patriotism and the American way. But one beer that better embodies the spirit of America is American Amber Ale, a beer brewed by Oregon’s Rogue Ales. This beer has been around for 28 years and it is one of only a handful of craft beers nationwide that is dedicated to the American Revolution. Rogue brewmaster John Maier feels American Amber is the perfect representation of all that is great about the land we love and Rogue Ales president Brett Joyce says the beer embodies the American spirit.
“It’s one of the ways Rogue shows our patriotic pride,” said Joyce. “It celebrates the revolutionary ideals of growing your own and doing it yourself, so naturally we use Rogue Farms Rebel hops along with Dare and Risk barley to craft this truly American amber.”
Rogue American Amber Ale is brewed using Northwest Harrington, Klages, and Crystal Malt along with Kent Goldings and Cascade hops. The beer is tawny/amber in color with an aroma of toffee and toasted malt. The beer features a balanced flavor with notes of toffee, bread, citrus, and earthiness. It rates highly among craft beer aficionados and also serves as a very good gateway beer for craft beer newbies.
American Amber Ale is now available in 22oz special serigraphed bomber bottles, 12oz bottles and on draft. To learn more about Rogue and to keep the Revolution alive, visit rogue.com.
