Pennsylvania’s Victory Brewing Company just announced the latest release in its Blackboard Series. The new brew is Berliner Weisse with Elderflower and it continues the series emphasis on artisanal craft beer paired with market fresh ingredients similar to those often found on blackboards in restaurants.
Victory’s Blackboard Series alternates every three months and this latest beer is the third overall in the series. Berliner Weisse with Elderflower is yet another treat for the senses; a hazy, tart wheat beer brewed using Hallertau hops with tasting notes that emphasize woody, spicy, and vanilla flavors with a floral finish. Berliner Weisse with Elderflower can be purchased wherever Victory Brewing products are currently sold and the beer carries a suggested retail price of $9.99 for a 4-pack of 12 oz. bottles.
Victory kicked off the Blackboard series in January, 2016 with Agave IPA with Grapefruit, a beer brewed using Simcoe, Citra, Centennial, and Cascade hops along with agave syrup and grapefruit juice. I sampled this beer and liked it very much, giving it a rating of 4.25 stars out of 5 in Untappd. The next beer in the Blackboard series was Dry-Hopped Brett Pils, a beer brewed with Tettnang, Mittelfrueh, Spalt, and Saaz hops with pilsner malt and Brett yeast. All three of the Blackboard beers embody the mission of the series, which is to marry excellent craft beer with other ingredients for a memorable taste experience.
Those who live near one of Victory’s brewpubs can enjoy this new beer paired with foods specifically created to match the flavors of the beer. Victory Brewing founder and brewmaster Bill Covaleski says this new beer and others in the Blackboard series are successful not only because they taste great, but also because they also take their inspiration from fine cuisine.
“Like a special at your favorite restaurant or brewpub, the Blackboard Series brings our fans into the create space our Brewers and Chefs share, offering them the opportunity to enjoy a brew made with fresh seasonal ingredients that takes them down exciting, unexpected pathways of flavor,” said Covaleski. “Combining tradition and ingenuity is a founding principle at Victory we are quite proud of. The Blackboard Series is a vivid, and delicious, example of what we do here all the time.”
Victory Berliner Weisse with Elderflower will be available nationwide through the early fall, 2016 when it will be replaced by the next entry in the Blackboard series, an Oatmeal Porter with Hazelnut.
