Lovers of coffee and artisanal beer need look no further- our friends at Oskar Blues Brewery are once again set to brew and release a coffee- infused favorite, Hotbox Coffee Porter. Coffee and dark, roasty beer are friendly companions and Hotbox Roasters is again supplying the coffee beans needed to create this limited release classic.
Hotbox Coffee Porter was a huge hit with Oskar Blues fanatics when it was originally released and it’s not difficult to understand why. This specialty beer is brewed using English and German roasted and caramel malts, delivering flavors like roasted nuts, cocoa, crème brulee, and caramel. The added cold- extracted coffee from Hotbox Roasters introduces Burundian and Ethiopian beans and contributes compatible flavors such as dark plums, chocolate, and hints of blueberry. Oskar Blues head of brewing operations Tim Mathews says the ingredients blend perfectly to create a malt beverage masterpiece.
“Hotbox wake-n-roast gets us rolling in the brewhouse day in and day out.” says Mathews. “Hotbox Porter shows that beer and coffee were meant to be together. Digging in with Hotbox Roasters allowed us to develop a malt blend and a coffee blend that gel beautifully.”
Hotbox Roasters is based out of Colorado and has made a name for itself on several fronts. The delicious coffee would be reason enough to endorse this innovative business, but Hotbox Roasters goes a step further, insisting on corporate responsibility through the use of only fair- trade coffee beans. This matches well with the philanthropic philosophy of Oskar Blues Brewery so it’s not surprising that the two companies decided to continue their partnership.
Hotbox Roasters currently offers eight different coffee roasts and it cans its freshly roasted coffee beans using Oskar Blues & Ball Corporation’s Crowler, a can designed to be used once and then recycled. Hotbox Roasters fills the Crowler and seams it shut right on- site at the Hotbox Roasters Dock in Longmont, Colorado, for maximum freshness.
Hotbox Coffee Porter contains 6.4 percent alcohol by volume and 30 IBU of bitterness. It will be available in four packs of 12 oz. cans and on draft from September through November. To find this and other Oskar Blues beer near you, be sure to visit www.oskarblues.com/beerFinder.
