Much like the finest culinary treats, the perfect beer becomes an integral part of any meal. While many use it as an opportunity to get tanked up, if you are serious about your beers, and perhaps the latest craft beer trend has truly ignited your taste buds, you may want to pursue your beer education further. What are the best ways for you to do this?
Turn To The TV
You might not think of this as an integral part of your education, especially as there are plenty of cookery shows out there that focus on the food. But if you look hard enough you can find shows that talk as much about the right ale as they talk about the perfect glass of wine to go with a certain type of food. It’s always worth checking Netflix for the latest documentaries, and if you can’t get Netflix, probably because you’ve got a Mac and you might be wondering “can you download Netflix shows on Mac computers?” it is actually possible. One of the best ways to truly imbibe a lot of knowledge is to turn to the cookery shows. As far as your education is concerned, it’s one of the best ways to learn a lot of information pretty quickly.
Hit The Beer Festivals
You don’t have to throw a keg very far for it to land on a beer festival. It’s the perfect way for you to gain a wider appreciation of your palate. The vast majority of beer festivals don’t just provide plenty of free samples, which will please your discerning uncle, but they also provide an abundance of education so you can truly immerse yourself in the difference between pilsner and lagers, and you can get a handle on the fermentation process. It’s these little components that can increase your appreciation. Going to a beer festival is also a fantastic way to get out there and meet other people so you know exactly what you’re up against, as well as discover how much more you have got left to learn.
Start To Brew Your Own Beer
If you want to learn how to build a house, build one! You can go on many brewery tours, and get the feeling for the flavors, smells, and sensations, but if you really want to understand the concept of flavor and how you get to that final product, there is no better method than creating your own beer. The great thing about this is that there’s plenty of homebrew equipment out there and while a deluxe set is best, you can actually make your own beer with makeshift equipment and even use a coffee filter as part of the process. Brewing your own beer is also a fantastic way to experiment with flavors and truly experience the pride of making your own, as well as see your skill improve over time. You can see there is more to brewing than people think. If you want to increase your appreciation of all things beer, creating your own is the best way to figure out what you like, what you want, and what needs to be changed to get the most out of your crafty creations. It also lets you see that brewing great beer is a challenge, but the rewards are often worth it in the end!

Yes, there are homebrewing shops and even homebrewing clubs across the United States. You can buy basic equipment and do it yourself, or you can even buy homebrewing machines that do most of the work for you.
I found this all very interesting and informative! I think it’s time for me to check out a few Beer Festivals!! Thanks for this post!
Beer festivals are probably the BEST way to learn more about beer and discover what you like!

Yes, homebrewing does take space, not to mention time and patience.
It feels like you’ve been looking in my windows. My husband went down this rabbit hole and we currently have quite a few tools and containers of beer being fermented in our basement. I am learning things I never knew were possible. It really is very interesting.
I’ve always been intrigued by homebrews… Might have to start looking into that more!
It truly is a rewarding hobby, but it can also get a little frustrating. I takes time and usually several trials to get it right
Hubs is a huge beer fan! He found a lot of his favorite varieties by visiting breweries and trying what they have on tap.
We also love visiting local bars and restaurants to see what they have on tap.
When we lived in Charleston, SC we found this amazing oyster stout which became his favorite for awhile 🙂
