Destihl Brewery, the Normal, Illinois- based brewery that has helped bring sour beers to the masses, just announced expansion to Delaware and the District of Columbia starting on March 4, 2019. The brewery inked a deal with DOPS Inc. of Fort Washington, Maryland to distribute its beers to the region.
Destihl co- founder and Brewmaster Matt Potts points to the opening of the massive, 47,000 square foot production brewery in May, 2017 as the necessary impetus Destihl needed to facilitate growth.
“Having this facility has really opened the door for us to move into new and exciting markets like Delaware and DC”, said Potts. “We look forward to this opportunity and see a bright future where DESTIHL beers are welcomed into the highly developed but exciting and innovative Mid-Atlantic craft beer scene. To make this happen, we’ve teamed up with DOPS Inc., a team that has a long history of supporting and growing craft brands.”
At the top of the distribution list will be the Wild Sours series. Available in 12 oz. cans and on draft, Destihl’s famed Here Gose Nothin’®, Synchopathic®, and Apricot will make their way Eastward, as will the ‘Wild Pack’, which is a variety 12-pack of DESTIHL’s industry-changing sour beers. For those who want something a little less mouth- puckering, Destihl will also distribute Haze of the Dead Hazy Double IPA; Weissenheimer Hefeweizen; and Moonjumper Milk Stout.
DOPS Inc spokesperson Brooke Mihoces is confident the market is ripe for Destihl products.
“DOPS is thrilled to introduce Delaware and DC beer fans to the unique and innovative portfolio of beers from DESTIHL. Our consumers are thirsty for award-winning, perfectly executed canned sour beer as well as clean hoppy beers,” said Mihoces.
Destihl’s Director of Sales Neil Reinhardt can’t wait to ship his brewery’s beers to Delaware and Washington D.C. and he is convinced that DOPS is the ideal partner for the task.
“Delaware and DC are great craft beer markets, and we are super excited to have DESTIHL beers available to consumers there. Our approach to new markets has been to choose the best partner, and we couldn’t ask for a better one than DOPS. We look forward to working and growing with their team,” said Reinhardt.
