Expansion is sweet news for any brewery. It confirms the brewery’s products have been well received and that demand exceeds supply- a sure sign that business is good and headed in the right direction. America’s craft beer business has been expanding rapidly for a long time, and DESTIHL Brewery in Normal, Illinois just announced a major expansion that will make it the envy of craft breweries everywhere as it sends its first shipment of beer to South Korea this week.
DESTIHL founder and brewmaster Matt Potts says his brewery’s new, massive production facility helped make this possible.
“Getting our new destination production brewery operational this year is really allowing us to expand production, grow within our existing markets, and open doors into new, exciting market, even global markets, which are seeking our unique beers”, said Potts.
Other craft breweries have expanded globally, but very few have shipped to South Korea. Potts says that Brewers International is responsible.
“Obviously South Korea is a non- traditional market for a US craft brewer, but we were sought after by and saw a unique opportunity to partner with Brewmasters International to begin our international growth for the first time throughout the South Korean peninsula”, Potts added.
DESTIHL Director of Sales Neil Reinhardt says the time is right for the move to the East, noting that South Korean tastes demand beer with flavor and character.
“South Korea has a thirst for American craft beer and we’re not alone in the thought that we provide a unique offering that will fill a niche in this foreign market”, said Reinhardt.
DESTIHL beers slated for shipment to South Korea include:
- Wild Sour Series- Here Gose Nothin’, Synchopathic Sour, and Flanders Red
- Core Products: Moonjumper Milk Stout and Amra Mango IPA
All of the above beers will be distributed in 12 oz. cans. More varieties of beer and package options will likely follow as the South Korean market warms up to the brand.
