South Florida often conjures up images of vast sandy beaches and endless fun in the sun, but this region is also making a name for itself in one other important way: Beer. The Miami/Ft Lauderdale/Palm Beach areas are home to a large and growing number of craft breweries, each with its own unforgettable personality and succulent suds. About 12 breweries call this area home and as consumers develop more sophisticated tastes, more craft breweries are expected to be added each year.
This summer, Discover Palm Beaches is offering an easy means to sample beer from five different Palm Beach area breweries. It’s called the Discover Brew Pass and with it, the interested consumer or tourist can sample a glass or pint of beer from Accomplice Brewery & Ciderworks, Barrel of Monks, Due South Brewing, Tequesta Brewing Company, and Twisted Trunk Brewing. The pass is only $15 per person and can be purchased through http://www.palmbeachfl.com/discover-brew-pass. Once purchased and initially used, consumers have 14 days to complete the five brewery visits.
Here is a quick rundown of the five participating breweries:
Accomplice Brewery & Ciderworks: This is the first and, at present, only ciderworks in South Florida. The brewery makes all of its cider on site at its West Palm Beach facility, located about one mile north of Palm Beach International Airport, and offers 11 different flavors on tap every day. Accomplice offers a casual atmosphere and visitors might be surprised to learn that it also serves beers from other local breweries. Every cider served at Accomplice Brewery & Ciderworks is naturally gluten-free.
Barrel of Monks: A Belgian focused brewery in Boca Raton, Barrel of Monks strives to create beers similar to the world famous beer brewed by Belgian Trappist monks. The brewery focuses its efforts on Saison, Wit, BPA, and other Belgian inspired beer and features an old-world style tasting room befitting of such an operation.
Due South Brewing: This growing craft brewer traces its roots to the owner’s backyard home brewery. With that inspiration, Due South was born and it now counts itself among Florida’s most influential breweries. The brewery and taproom, located in Boynton Beach, await your presence for a tasting of delicious small batch brewed beer and a behind-the-scenes tour.
Tequesta Brewing Company: Head north of West Palm Beach on Highway 1 and you will soon arrive at Tequesta Brewing, located in the small city of the same name. Tequesta Brewing Company is organic certified and serves more than 40 seasonal specialties on tap.
Twisted Trunk Brewing: Palm Beach Gardens is home to this newer craft brewery, just over one year old. The highlights of this brewery are its bar, created from 100-year-old elm wood, its growler filling service, and its wine options for those who would rather partake in a different adult beverage. A nice lounge area offers views into the brewery and if you get hungry, nearby restaurants will deliver food to you, right at Twisted Trunk.
If the Discover Brew Pass catches on, more breweries may be added and more pass options offered. In the meantime, the five spotlighted breweries are certainly ones deserving of a visit and the Discover Brew Pass definitely belongs in your Florida entertainment plans. Five samples of beer from five great craft breweries for only $15 is an excellent deal, so logon to Discover Palm Beaches and purchase your pass today!
