Beer is all about community. Minnesota’s FINNEGANS Brew Co. is a brewery that has taken the concept of community one step further. Its mission is “turning beer into food” and it regularly donates a portion of profits to food bank non- profits, helping to stock pantries across the Twin Cities region and beyond.
In the spirit of the holiday season, FINNEGANS is currently promoting its Drink Like You Care holiday campaign. The goal is to raise even more funds to make the season safer and brighter for all.
Keeping it Local
Drink Like You Care is a two- month long campaign aimed at alleviating hunger. Distribution partners add matching donations for each keg, case, or barrel they transact, in every market where FINNEGANS beer is sold. The funds are then added to those donated by FINNEGANS to increase the impact even more. The idea is to keep the giving local. Wherever the funds are raised, donations are made to food banks as close to that specific area as possible.
Drinking for the Common Good
Drink Like You Care encourages consumers to join in the spirit of giving in each market FINNEGANS beer is sold. For every pint, six pack, or twelve pack of FINNEGANS beer consumers purchase in November or December, FINNEGANS and its distribution partners will donate to the cause.
To add to consumer options, this year’s Drink Like You Care holiday campaign features a Celebration Fan Pack that includes Pomegranate Crush Lager and a return of the fan favorite Dead Irish Poet Caribou Coffee Stout, a beer brewed in collaboration with Caribou Coffee®. This Celebration Fan Pack is another fun and enjoyable way to help support the cause.
FINNEGANS Brew Co CEO Jacquie Berglund says the need for food, while always present, is especially strong right now.
“It’s my favorite time of year. This year is especially important coming out of the pandemic we know the need for food has nearly doubled and has put a great deal of stress on food banks and shelves across the state” said Berglund.
For those who do not drink regular beer, FINNEGANS newly acquired Hairless Dog 0.0% ABV craft beer can be purchased instead. This alcohol- free brew is available in three signature flavors – Citra Lager, IPA, and Black Ale. FINNEGANS will donate to the cause for any Hairless Dog sale during this two- month span.
Drink Like You Care
FINNEGANS Drink Like You Care campaign has raised over $190,000 to date. And since its founding, FINNEGANS has generated more than $2 million in community impact. Its unique business model is self-sustaining. It invests in local food systems and empowers consumers to do good while enjoying high-quality beer.
If you happen to live within the FINNEGANS distribution area, which includes parts of Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin, be sure to grab yourself a six or twelve pack this holiday season. Your purchase will help add food to shelves throughout the region, diminishing hunger and helping those in need.

What a lovely concept to raise money for food banks. It’s a difficult time for all in this economic crisis so helping food banks to stock up is commendable.
I’m not a drinker, much less a BEER drinker. But I love the idea of keeping breweries local and giving the public a variety of home grown options. Plus I really like the name!
This is a really great campaign. I love when companies are creative and also helpful. It doesn’t take much to make a difference. Love it.
This is an excellent idea for food banks. They really need help at this time of the year.
Our food bank was short this year. Once word got out people jumped in to help. Everything is so expensive this year I guess it wasn’t the first thing people thought of, but I’m glad it worked out okay. Good to remind folks.
Great to know that Finnegans is doing their part to help the community. It’s all about giving back this holiday season!
I like the idea. Hopefully I can apply the concept to my business. This will help the community a lot.
