Founders Brewing Co. has announced the next release in its Mothership Beer Series and this time around, the beer is indicative of a juicy IPA, but with its own unique personality.
The new beer is called Mucho Lupu and it features four types of American hops: Azacca, Mosaic, Simcoe, and Amarillo. The already hoppy brew is then dry-hopped with traditional hop pellets together with cryo powder. This latter ingredient is one most people have likely never heard of until now. It is a special product that separates lupulin from the hop flower, for an added hoppy punch. On the malt side, Mucho Lupu is brewed using wheat and oats to provide a smooth landing for all of that hop power. The final product has an alcohol by volume of around 6.5%.
Founders Brewmaster Jeremy Kosmicki says this new beer is different from other IPA, and that is one of its primary appeals.
“I love IPAs that are bright, clean and well-balanced,” says Kosmicki. “Mucho Lupu was born out of experimentation with advanced hop products and a desire to create a beer with the low bitterness and huge hop aromatics and flavors of a juicy IPA, while maintaining a beautifully brilliant appearance,” he added.
The taproom version of each Mothership Series is brewed and served in limited quantities and is on tap at each Founders taproom, in Grand Rapids and Detroit. These beers are often short- lived at the taproom locations so craft beer fans are encouraged to make a visit to Grand Rapids or Detroit as the release is available.
The previous Mothership beers have included such crowd favorites as Cerise, Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout, Panther Cub, MF Donkey Stout, Sleeper Cell and Red’s Rye IPA. Mucho Lupu is certain to be just as incredible as the others in the series with strong demand.
Outside of the two taprooms, Mucho Lupu will be sold in six packs of 12 oz. bottles and will be released, along with the taproom versions, on June 7, 2019. Mucho Lupu will have a retail price of $10.00/6-pack, which isn’t bad at all for a craft beer of such limited distribution and high quality.
Founders Mothership Series is yet another reason to love and admire this Grand Rapids, Michigan brewery. Be sure to track down Mucho Lupu in your area and savor the flavor of this latest Mothership brew.
