Fresh hop ales are a hop lover’s delight. Brewed with hops that have been harvested for only a few hours, these wet hop ales showcase the delicious flavors and aromas attributable to specific shop varieties in ways that ordinary beer cannot. And this year’s Full Sail Brewing 8 Pound Pale Fresh Hop Ale is one that beer lovers will want to experience. Brewed with eight pounds of local, freshly harvested Centennial hops per barrel, this beer features Oregon hops plucked from the vine only three hours prior to brewing. Full Sail brewer Greg Doss says this year’s beer is balanced and nothing short of amazing.
“This year’s 8 Pound Pale Fresh Hop Ale explodes with bright tropical notes,” says Doss. “A blend of pale and wheat malts created a light golden base which we packed with Willamette Valley-grown Centennial Hops, only hours off the vine. Beautiful fresh-hop aromas of tropical fruit and citrus are complemented nicely with subtle malt notes. This refreshing beer is high on hop aromatics yet well balanced.”
8 Pound Pale Fresh Hop Ale is one of Full Sail’s Brewmaster Reserve beers. Each year, Full Sail selects a variety of hop to create this beer, both as a means to celebrate the hop harvest and to present craft beer fans with a beer that delivers fresh hop flavors not usually found in other beers. By using eight pounds of fresh hops per 31 gallon barrel, the hop character is unmistakable.
It’s not surprising that 8 Pound Pale Fresh Hop Ale is a fan favorite. Each year’s brew is unique in aroma and taste, so if you want to sample Centennial hops in all of their fresh hop glory, be sure to seek out this Full Sail beer as soon as possible. It’s a limited release and once it’s gone, it’s gone so get your hands on a six pack or draft glassful as quickly as you can.

A lot of people these days seem to rag on hoppy beer. But I’m also a lover of IPAs. Will definitely try Full Sail’s when I get back Stateside. Their other beers are pretty solid too.
