Full Sail Brewing, the Hood River, Oregon brewery responsible for many memorable and long- lived beers for decades, has expanded its portfolio in a new direction. Following some of the latest style trends, the new beer, Full Sail Malted Milkshake-Style IPA , satisfies in ways both like and unlike other beers of this style, with lactose, malted barley, oats, and a touch of natural vanilla combining for a unique and memorable taste.
Full Sail Brewmaster Greg Doss says the new, hazy/creamy beer is one that has been in the making for a while.
“We’d been wanting to experiment with the milkshake style, an offshoot of New England Hazy IPAs,” says Doss. “With Malted Milkshake, we really nailed it. It’s unfiltered, not bitter, and there’s tons of aroma packed into a full-bodied, creamy IPA.”
Like Hazy New England style IPA, milkshake style IPAs are one of the latest trends in craft beer and one that is rapidly taking over the craft beer realm. They are a spin on the hazy IPA style and Full Sail has managed to take the spin to a new level, crafting its beer with nonfermentable lactose, two- row pale malt, wheat, oats, and five hop varieties: Ekuanot, Denali, Comet, Citra, and Cascade.
Full Sail Malted Milkshake IPA is available right now in 6- packs of bottles and in draft form. The beer contains 6.8 percent alcohol by volume and 40 IBU, so it is less bitter than you may have expected. To learn more about this and other Full Sail beers, visit online at www.fullsailbrewing.com.
