World of Beer, the Florida based restaurant/tavern known for its amazing beer selection and tavern fare, is bringing back a job position that proved extremely popular last year. That job is the highly coveted Drink It Intern and once again, World of Beer is searching the nation for three individuals who will travel, drink, and share stories as part of a paid internship. World of Beer CMO Terry Haley says this position is all about connections and what better way to connect than through food and drink?
“World of Beer was established with the belief that great beer and beer stories have an inordinate ability to connect people, establish community and create lasting memories,” said Haley. “Our Drink It Interns embody this belief as they document their journey through craft beer culture, to offer a fresh and highly personal perspective to the craft beer community, while gaining career and life skills along their journey.”
Selected interns will travel the country, sampling beer, meeting people, and soaking up the atmosphere. There are no academic prerequisites to be a Drink It Intern. All that World of Beer wants is someone who likes people, beer, and camaraderie- someone who enjoys meeting new people over a cold brew and then sharing their experience. World of Beer Director of Brand Marketing Hannah Davis stresses that this position does require dedication, but is also a lot of fun, as last year’s Drink It Interns know well.
“The 2016 Drink It Interns traveled to some of the most iconic beer communities across the country and around the world. This year, we are again looking forward to our interns highlighting amazing breweries, big and small, that make up the fabric of the beer community,” said Davis.
Like last year, World of Beer will accept Drink It Intern applications online and will honor them between the dates of March 1 – March 26, 2017. As part of the application process, World of Beer asks each applicant to share a short, one- minute video that creativity conveys your interest in the position. It could be a retelling of a memorable moment from a beercation, an unforgettable visit to a local brewery, a love story about your favorite brand, or most anything else that communicates your passion for beer and storytelling.
World of Beer will judge the submissions and narrow down to a select few who will then be invited to the second interview round. On April 8, 2017, these individuals will need to make their way to one of a select group of World of Beer locations, ready to demonstrate their true food and beer- loving personality for all to see. Participating locations include:
- Gainesville, Florida
- Tampa, Florida
- Rockville, Maryland
- Cambridgeside, Massachusetts
- St. Paul, Minnesota
- Henderson, Nevada
- Greensboro, North Carolina
- Columbus, Ohio
- Ft. Worth, Texas
World of Beer fans are encouraged to visit during the sessions and root their favorite applicant to victory. Those customers who observe and cast a vote will receive a free beer, where legal.
Drink It Intern applicants must be 21 years of age or older to pursue this opportunity and must be available to work on a part time basis from May through August, 2017. Travel is, of course, a required part of the job and candidates must be able to meet required deadlines.
Beer and community go hand in hand and World of Beer is certainly a place where the spirit of community is seen and heard every day at any of the more than 70 locations. The Drink It Intern program is a fun way for a beer- loving individual to partake in what many would consider the dream job of a lifetime: The chance to drink beer, travel, meet people, and share adventures. Whether you’re a great photographer, social media influencer, or just someone who loves beer and people, World of Beer would love to have you serve as a Drink It Intern and spread the love far and wide. Applications are accepted for only a few more weeks, so submit your video today!
