Black Friday is usually associated with early morning trips to shopping malls, waiting in lines, and wrestling others for inexpensive holiday merchandise. But there is another reason to wake up bright and early on this busiest shopping day of the year, and that reason is beer. Goose Island’s highly anticipated Bourbon County beers are back, and they go on sale starting on Black Friday, continuing while supplies last.
Bourbon County originally became known for its signature stout. Aged in bourbon barrels, this classic stout is still produced at the Goose Island Clybourn brewpub and this year marks the 1000th batch of this classic beer. Featuring flavors of oak, vanilla, caramel, chocolate, and other complex flavors, Bourbon County Stout is a holiday tradition for many and both the 2015 and 2016 editions will be sold on Black Friday, with limited quantities at most retailers.
Joining this classic stout will be other Bourbon County offerings, such as Bourbon County Barleywine, Bourbon County Coffee Stout, and Rare Bourbon County Stout. Residents of Chicago will have an additional beer available, Proprietor’s Bourbon County Stout.
All of these beers will be offered in 500 ml (16.9 oz.) bottles and will be available in very limited quantities. This year’s Bourbon County Coffee Stout is brewed using Flecha Roja, a Costa Rican coffee that imparts flavors of cherry, chocolate, and nuts. As always, this particular Bourbon County brew is slightly different from past versions, making it unique and certainly a beer worth seeking out.
Black Friday rolls around once per year and if you’re going to stand in long lines, why not reward yourself with Bourbon County beer? These special releases usually sell out quickly so consult the beer/liquor stores in your area, find out which ones are selling Bourbon County, and make your way to a participating retailer this Friday!
