312 Urban Wheat, one of Goose Island Beer’s top selling beers, debuts a new version of itself this weekend, just in time for the running of the Chicago Marathon on October 7, 2018.
The new beer is called 312 Dry Hopped, a special beer that was brewed to celebrate the Chicago Marathon and its participants. Goose Island plans to hand out cans of the new beer to every person, age 21 and up, who finishes the marathon. The beer will be distributed at a post- race celebration scheduled to take place at Butler Field.
312 Dry Hopped features citrus/lemony flavors and dough- like flavors from the malts. The attractive black and gold can is a collector’s item in more ways than one. It has a map of the marathon route and even has a place where runners can write- in their finishing time, in hours, minutes, and seconds, for lasting memories.
Goose Island is a sponsor of the Chicago Marathon and has celebrated the race for many years. The brewery has, in fact, been a longtime supporter of local sports and fitness, donating time and money to outdoor causes and sponsoring sports and teams. Just this past April, Goose Island partnered with the Chicago White Sox as the team’s official craft beer. And a few years ago, the brewery donated a portion of sales from its Green Line Pale Ale to Chicago’s 606 trail and park system.
The Chicago Marathon is one of the most highly participated sporting events in the world, attracting 45,000 runners each year. Along with the New York, Boston, London, Berlin, and Tokyo Marathons, the Chicago Marathon is one of six World Marathon Majors. With 312 Dry Hopped, runners have an additional incentive to finish the race and partake in the post- marathon festivities at Butler Field. It’s a cool way to commemorate a job well done and congratulate others for crossing the finish line.
Hi, I would like to know how to get a 312 commemorative beer? I ran Chicago Marathon but did not get one because I was very tired. Thanks for your reply.
I know that it was handed out at the post- marathon party to each person who finished. As far as I know, that was the only way to get the beer. You would need to visit the Goose Island Brewery in Chicago to find out if there are other cans available for purchase.
Hello,
I ran the marathon & saved my beer can but misplaced my bag after the race that had the can in it 🙁 I would really like a new can to keep. How can I get one? I live in Chicago, do you have them at the brewery ?
Your best shot, at this point, is to contact the brewery.
