Grand Canyon Brewing, an Arizona based craft brewery located in Williams, Arizona, is about to expand its production and outreach with a new brewhouse and taproom. The new brewhouse will begin brewing beer in January, 2017 while the new taproom location is set to open in July 28, 2016, providing yet another means for craft beer fans to mingle and enjoy beer from one of Arizona’s best breweries.
The new brewhouse contains an impressive 20,000 square feet of space and will house a 40 bbl brewing system. This is enough to push brewing capacity up to about 20,000 barrels in 2018 and 40,000 barrels in 2020. Grand Canyon Brewing owner John Peasley says the time is right for his brewery to expand its production and overall reach.
“With the addition of the new brewery, we will be able to double our brewing capacity over the next two years, helping us to meet the demand locally while tapping into more global markets”, said Peasley.
At present, Grand Canyon beer is distributed to only two U.S. states: Arizona and Nevada. The growing brewery also distributes to South Korea but once the new brewery is up and running, Grand Canyon Brewing plans to expand its international distribution even further, with plans to introduce its beer to Australia, Canada, China, Japan, and Mexico.
Domestically, there is a very good chance that Grand Canyon Brewing will slowly spread to additional U.S. states but in the meantime, fans of the beer will be happy to know that Grand Canyon Brewing plans to ramp up production of its small batch and specialty beers. This would include the Shotgun Series beers, comprised of four different double IPAs, cask beers, and collaboration beers.
The new brewhouse is still several months away, but the taproom will be open in a matter of weeks, so if you happen to live in or near Williams, AZ, I recommend setting aside some time to attend the opening festivities on July 28.
