Great Music and Delicious Tequila Make for a Memorable Day

 

 

Great music and delicious booze are natural accompaniments. One enhances the other and this is why it’s so common to find adult beverages served at concert venues across the USA. Here at Great Beer Now, I had the opportunity to enjoy some of the finest tequila available while also listening to some of the best in American heavy metal at the Zoo Amphitheatre in Oklahoma City, OK. The occasion was the Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival, an event now in its fifth year.

Time for a Tour

Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival kicked off its tour with Pura Vida Tequila in Simpsonville, South Carolina on August 29 and continued on a sixteen city romp until closing out with a visit to Tucson, Arizona on September 21. The festival features a different lineup and sponsorship each year. I’m glad I waited until 2014 to attend because this year’s event was easily one of the best if not the best one so far. Event goers were treated to an exceptional lineup of talented musicians, culminating in a performance by alternative metal rockers Godsmack.

My Drink, Please

As stated before, no concert is complete without some good booze to round out the experience and attendees at the Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival were treated to some of the finest tequila in existence courtesy of Pura Vida. Translated from Spanish, Pura Vida means “Pure Life”, a name befitting of tequila made with the finest blue agave from the Jalisco region of Mexico- an area famous for its agave growing and cultivating expertise.

Today, Pura Vida tequila is available in four varieties: Silver, Reposado, Anejo, and Extra Anejo. The company has expanded outside its tequila roots and also produces Naranja, an orange liqueur, and Don Pancho, a coffee liqueur. At the Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival, the Pura Vida Party Bus kept guests entertained, serving up margaritas and specialty drinks like the Sully Smash, created by and named after Godsmack’s esteemed frontman, Sully Erna.

Let’s Get This Party Started

I arrived at the Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival early to partake in the opening musical acts and to make sure to reserve my place on the bus. Godsmack headlined the event, but there was plenty of other great music to be heard at Zoo Amphitheatre on September 8, 2014 with a lineup that included:

The music went practically non- stop for most of the afternoon and evening, but the highlight of the day’s festivities for me was the opportunity to meet the members of Godsmack on the Pura Vida Party Bus. The guys arrived and entered the bus, ready to tip back a Pura Vida beverage and chat about their music, good tequila, and other topics. The band members were very calm, relaxed, down to earth, and ready to chat. They cordially answered questions before stepping off of the Pura Vida Party bus with everyone else to partake in the ceremonial “8:15 tequila” shot before heading backstage to prepare for the show.

The Fun Continues

Once the party bus cleared, it was time to head to the show and my, what a show it was! The Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival included a wide array of rock bands, some of which I had never heard of before but am glad I got to know. The growing crowd loved every minute of this evening of entertainment, but saved its most heartfelt enthusiasm for the moment that Godsmack took the stage. It was all uphill from there as this immensely talented band gave the crowd more than its money’s worth in impeccable live entertainment.

Great music and great beverages go hand in hand and the Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival 2014 easily delivered on both counts. Meeting Sully Erna and the other members of Godsmack while enjoying the excellent quality of Pura Vida Tequila was an experience I won’t soon forget. The quality level was unsurpassed at this event and it left an undeniably positive impression on all who attended.

I look forward to Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival 2015 and hope that Godsmack and Pura Vida tequila will once again join forces for an unforgettable nationwide tour featuring some of the best liquor and music this great land has to offer.
