
Celebrating Cajun culture and handcrafted beer, the Great Southwest Cajun Fest will showcase the heart and soul of New Orleans paired with Arizona fusion and flavor. Presented by Abita Beer, the Fest will feature live music with jazz, blues and contemporary swing revival bands; festival patrons will feel transported to the southeastern region of Louisiana.
The Great Southwest Cajun Fest will be held at Margaret T. Hance Park in Phoenix on Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
“I’m excited to bring the culture and flavors of Louisiana to Phoenix. With such a strong presence of Cajun style food and community here in Arizona, it’s time to celebrate with a festival that really showcases our local influencers,” said Landon Evans, event coordinator.
General admission is $10, kids 12 and under will be admitted for free. VIP admission is $65 and that includes catered food from the Angry Crab Shack, six adult beverages and access to private seating in the VIP area, private restrooms and front stage access. VIP tickets are only available in advance, online at www.southwestcajunfest.com.
The fest will feature headlining entertainment by Big Bad Voodoo Daddy with supporting acts Zack Deputy, Bad Cactus Brass Band and local jazz and marching bands.
Event highlights include delicious food vendors including event sponsor, the Angry Crab Shack who will be serving up a crawfish boil, crab cookies and charred oysters.
“We’re thrilled to have a part in hosting such a great event. The Cajun culture is such a rich and vibrant part of our country, we are proud to bring it to Arizona,” said Daniel Sevilla, owner of the Angry Crab Shack.
Additional food purveyors include, Welcome Diner, delighting the masses with their beignets and coffee bar; alongside Raging Cajun BBQ and Sandra Dee’s Catering who will serve BBQ and Creole style dishes.
The festival will feature themed zones including Bourbon Street, French Quarter, Garden District, Lafayette Street, Central City, Canal Street, and the VIP Gentilly Terrace. Within each zone, enjoy a wide range of festive activities including watermelon, wing, and crawfish eating competitions, a kids craft area and parades! Bring your dog dressed in a New Orleans style outfit complete with tutus and feathers to join in on the Pup Parade. Patrons of all ages are encouraged to dress in festive parade style attire and join in on the fun.
