Green Flash Brewing, the San Diego- based brewery with operations on both the West and East American coasts, is introducing another member to its IPA- focused lineup. The new beer is Remix IPA, an IPA that relies on familiar hops combined with an up- to- date hop flavor.
Mike Hinkley, Green Flash Brewing co- founder, says the new beer takes IPA know- how and updates it to match the times.
“Remix IPA is an extremely exciting new single IPA release for Green Flash,” says Hinkley. “Our brewers are taking the skills learned over the past 15 years of brewing awesome IPAs to create the next iconic front-line beer in the Green Flash portfolio.”
Remix IPA is brewed with Cascade, Columbus, and Summit hops. The beer’s packaging tells the story of the new beer by metaphorically comparing hip hop DJs with Green Flash brewers. The name Remix is taken from the idea that the Green Flash brewing team is hard at work as it puts the finishing touches on its own ingredients/processes; borrowing from the past and updating for the future, as it creates the next Green Flash breakthrough hit.
Green Flash Brewmaster Erik Jensen says the new Remix IPA is a reflection of the brewing team’s desire to keep quality as high as always, but to reduce the alcohol level slightly in the process.
“We love West Coast IPA, so we decided to come up with a beer that echoes its best attributes with a lower ABV and lighter color and body,” explains Jensen. “Remix IPA is not quite as hoppy as our flagship brew, but it is unmistakably a world-class Green Flash IPA. It will definitely be my go-to beer next year.”
Remix will be available nationwide and will be packaged in 6 packs of 12 oz. cans and in single serve 19.2 ounce. Its 6.2 percent alcohol by volume will be slightly less than that of the other Green Flash IPA, a family of hoppy brews that includes the likes of West Coast IPA and Soul Style IPA. But the taste and character will still be indicative of Green Flash and the high standards the brewery represents.
