California’s Green Flash Brewing has a new beer coming your way, the next release in the Cellar 3 Barrelmaster’s Reserve Series. The new brew is Ochre Frumento, an aged barleywine and the strongest beer Green Flash has ever released.
Ochre Frumento is a unique beer, and not just for its alcoholic punch. The beer has been aged for a total of 6 years, first in brandy barrels and then in bourbon barrels. Complex in aroma and taste, Ochre Frumento contains 17.5 percent alcohol by volume.
Cellar 3 releases are difficult to come by, and this release will not be any different. Only 600 bottles have been produced and they will be sold at the Green Flash Brewing Cellar 3 Tasting Room, 12260 Crosthwaite Cir., Poway, California on Saturday, September 17, 2016. Craft beer fans need to make note of this date, since it is likely the beer will sell out quickly. There will be a limit of 2 bottles per person and, if it’s anything like the others in the Barrelmaster’s Reserve series, it will sell out completely in a matter of hours. Word has it that each bottle will retail for about $24.
Ochre Frumento is brown in color, with a pronounced boozy aroma. The taste has been described as highly sophisticated, with notes of toffee, caramel, stone fruits, and nuts. It sounds like a truly delectable treat but only a small number of individuals will get to enjoy its greatness. If you live in the San Diego area, be sure to set aside September 17 and arrive bright and early for a chance to purchase and savor this one- of- a- kind brew.
