Craft beer fans are, statistically speaking, more likely to engage in physical activity and keep themselves in better physical shape than their non- craft brethren. After a good workout, many craft beer lovers like to treat themselves to their favorite beverage but the problem is, most beers do not have much in the way of nutrition. Harpoon Brewery is out to change this with the release of its latest beer, Harpoon Rec League, a hazy pale ale designed for those who live active lifestyles.
What sets Harpoon Rec League apart from other beers is its ingredients. The beer is brewed using such non- conventional ingredients as buckwheat kasha, chia seeds, and Mediterranean sea salt. These ingredients add nutrients such as B- vitamins, Omega- 3 fatty acids, antioxidents, and electrolytes, which are among the many nutrients needed for a post- workout boost.
Tom Graham, Innovation Brewer at Harpoon Brewery, says this beer was designed for the craft beer drinker who likes to stay in shape but would like something more flavorful than water for an after- workout treat.
“Fans of Harpoon do more than drink beer – they’re running road races, working out with friends, and hitting the slopes. We wanted to make a beer that celebrates and complements this active lifestyle,” says Graham.
Harpoon Rec League is a light, crisp pale ale with a good deal of hop character. The hazy pale ale is more thirst quenching than the average beer and with only 3.8 percent alcohol by volume and 120 calories per 12 oz. serving, it’s the type of beer you can drink without feeling guilty.
Rec League has joined the year- round Harpoon Brewery lineup and is now sold throughout the brewery’s entire U.S. distribution footprint. It is available in 4- packs of 16 oz. cans and in 15 packs of 12 oz. cans. It is also available at Harpoon’s two brewery locations, in Boston, Massachusetts and in Windsor, Vermont.
