Harpoon’s popular UFO line of hazy wheat beers is getting a packaging face- lift and adding a new member to the family.
UFO Hefeweizen, UFO White Ale, and UFO Raspberry have all been christened with new package designs, emphasizing the cool, fruity goodness that lies within. In addition, UFO is expanding, adding UFO Huckleberry to the seasonal mix. Each of the four UFO beers will feature its own mix of fruity refreshment, perfect for the warm days that lie just ahead.
UFO Brand Manager Victoria Kidder says the UFO product line is poised for a successful seasonal launch.
“UFO is raring to take off,” says Kidder. “These beers are brewed to be fun, interesting, and full of flavor. Now they’ve got the look and voice to match what they’ve always been. We’ve put a lot of thought into every piece of it so that the curious beer drinkers out there get a hint of the adventure that awaits, without giving too much away. Discovery is half the fun in beer drinking, right?”
With the packaging, UFO beers will now sport a design that is more colorful, more fun, and more indicative of the beer inside each can. Even the font was changed to make the beer seem more approachable and friendly- the way a summer beer should be. The design, carefully thought out in order to deliver a specific brand message, was the result of a ‘meeting of the minds’ between members of the Harpoon Brewery staff and Boston brand strategy firm, Catapult Thinking.
With the new packaging will also come a new web site specifically for the UFO lineup. Consumers who visit the site, set to debut on April 6, 2017, will learn all there is to known about each of the four UFO styles, plus have access to drink recipes that use the different UFO beers as well as food recipes that call for UFO beer as a key ingredient. Harpoon co- founder Dan Kenary says the UFO concept is meant to deliver a delicious, non- pretentious brew that satisfies and delivers as promised without begging further questions.
“Choosing a beer shouldn’t be hard,” says Kenary. “The less time that’s spent getting caught up in the details, the more time there is to actually enjoy the beer. That’s a big reason why we started brewing UFO beers. There’s great history, tradition, and craft behind these beers, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be uncomplicated and easy to drink.”
