Austin- based Uncle Billy’s Brewery and Smokehouse has a new beer- one made to commemorate the release of a new movie filmed in western Texas. The new beer is called Hell or High Water Texas LAWger and it was brewed to celebrate the release of the film of almost the same name, “Hell or High Water”, a movie directed by David Mackenzie.
Uncle Billy’s Hell or High Water is a special release beer, brewed using Vienna malts and noble hops with prickly pear for a unique, Texas inspired twist. Uncle Billy’s head brewer Trevor Nearburg says the new beer is a tribute to the underrated natural beauty in this part of the country.
“Like the film, the Uncle Billy’s ‘Hell or High Water’ Texas LAWger is a love letter to the rugged beauty of Texas. Fans of the film will love the simplicity of the beer and its ties to West Texas,” said Nearburg. “It’s a traditional style German lager with a slightly sweet maltiness enhanced with earthy, sweet flavors and a beautiful, vibrant color from prickly pear cactus grown in West Texas. It is a refreshing, easy drinking beer that will knock a Texas thirst out of its boots.”
Uncle Billy’s is located in Austin, the same city that brought us Alamo Drafthouse cinema, one of the best places in the United States to watch movies and drink great beer. It’s only fitting that Alamo Drafthouse would be the place to partner with for a special tasting of the new beer and that is exactly what fans can expect starting August 12, 2016 when Hell or High Water Texas LAWger will be tapped at the Alamo Drafthouse location on South Lamar in Austin. Uncle Billy’s brew team will be present for the special occasion, ready to share a beer or two and answer questions.
Hell or High Water stars Ben Foster, Chris Pine, Jeff Bridges, and Dale Dickey and it has already received high acclaim. The Internet Movie Database presently shows a 7.8 rating and Rotten Tomatoes currently has awarded Hell or High Water with a 100% rating based on 16 critics reviews. Combine a great movie with a great beer from Austin and you have the perfect excuse to visit Alamo Drafthouse on August 12, 2016 for the film’s limited release debut.
