San Antonio’s historic Pearl Brewing Company has announced the return of its famous Gem of Fine Beer, Pearl xXx. This lager beer will be available throughout the larger markets in Texas in May, with wider distribution scheduled for June.
Pearl xXx has a storied past, as does the brewery itself. Pearl Brewery dates back to 1883 and the relaunch of this iconic brand is something that Pearl Brand Manager Daniel Crawford says is something Texans everywhere can embrace with pride.
“This relaunch of Pearl Beer is all about paying homage to Pearl’s deep roots while embracing the San Antonio of today,” said Crawford. “The rich and storied heritage that consumers have come to know and love for decades is the foundation of the brand. It’s an honor and privilege to build upon that foundation with a renewed look and taste that reflects the continuous evolution of the City of San Antonio, and Texas as a whole. Being based in San Antonio myself, as well as our company’s growing presence in Downtown San Antonio, it’s exciting for us all to be a part of the rebirth of this legendary beer as well as the momentum our city is seeing.”

The package design for Pearl xXx is inspired by the original packaging with a few enhancements to bring it into the modern era. Austin-based agency Guerilla Suit created the new label, which helps to reflect the beer’s history while also appealing to the modern beer drinker. In addition to the new bottle design, Pearl xXx has partnered with other art- focused businesses, including Richter Goods to create a line of clothing reflective of the brand and Jung Provisions to create a limited edition candle. Richter Goods owner Mario Guajardo has made sure to combine elements of both the past and present in the clothing design.
“Pearl x Richter Goods wearables revives the brewer’s workwear of the late 1800s,” said Guajardo. “The collection joins heritage with modernity to recapture the glory of a 134-year-old brand. The wearables feature chain-stitched embellishments produced on a 1927 Singer sewing machine by local brand Lunchroom Anxiety. The function of each wearable reflects historical archives and breathes tradition into our lives.”
With an alcohol by volume of only 3.8 percent, Peral xXx is a session beer all the way. It is brewed at a craft beer facility in the Texas hill country and is made using Czech Pilsen malt, caramel malt, and a small amount of wheat for a smooth, distinct taste that sets it apart from the typical mass produced lager. Look for it soon and relive San Antonio’s brewing heritage with this classic Texas beer.
