Denver’s Great American Beer Festival is a dynamic competition, gradually adding new categories to accommodate the growing and diverse beer styles brewed by the craft community. One of the newer categories vying for medals is gluten- free beer and Holidaily Brewing, a dedicated gluten free operation, will be submitting five entries into this year’s competition, all of them in the gluten free beer category. Holidaily Brewing owner Karen Hertz feels her beers are excellent representatives of full- flavored gluten free brew.
“Holidaily is dedicated to creating excellent tasting, gluten-free beer that is safe for those that suffer from celiac disease or gluten sensitivity and delicious for anyone who just wants a great tasting craft beer. We are excited to introduce the amazing depth and complexity of our beers’ flavors to such a wide audience at GABF”, says Hertz.
Holidaily will enter Favorite Blonde Ale, Buckwit Belgian Ale, Fat Randy’s IPA, Darc Marc Black IPA, and Day in Day Out Imperial Stout into the GABF competition. Head brewer Wayne Burns, a man with extensive experience and a resume that includes brewing stints at Jagged Mountain, Bell’s Brewery, and Kuhnhenn Brewing, says working with Hertz is a recipe for success because each brings different, complementary skills and talents to the table.
“Karen’s years of researching gluten-free beers and gluten-free ingredients combined with my extensive commercial brewing experience, makes us excellent partners in turning out a quality, great-tasting beer – not just a ‘good for gluten-free’ beer,” says Burns.
Attendees at this year’s Great American Beer Festival will find Holidaily Brewing Company serving all five of its GABF entries at booth X16. . Hertz and Burns will both be present, ready to answer questions. In addition, they will be handing out free swag to the first 500 visitors at each GABF session. A limited-edition Holidaily-branded headband could be yours if you act quickly. If a panel discussion is more your style, you might want to attend the Brewers Association Sit & Sip session on Saturday, October 8, between 6:15pm and 7:15pm. In all, personnel from 12 breweries will be part of this special session and Holidaily Brewing will be one of them.
As an added accommodation to those who cannot make it to the Great American Beer Festival this year, Holidaily Brewing is extending its tap room hours October 5 through October 8 with an 11:00am start each day. The brewery will offer buy one, get one free pints to those who arrive with a friend.
Gluten free is a more recent competitive category at the Great American Beer Festival. Holidaily is one of only five gluten free craft brewing operations in the United States and the only one in Colorado. Here at Great Beer Now, our experience with gluten free beer has been generally negative because so few breweries in the past were able to brew a gluten free beer with agreeable, quality taste. But now that I have heard about Holidaily Brewing, I am determined to pay a visit to booth X16 at GABF2016. A good gluten free beer is very difficult to make but the folks at Holidaily Brewing are dedicated to the cause and I look forward to sampling their five competitive entries.
