Some homebrewers like to mimic well- known beer products. Have you tried your luck lately?
Are you a fan of Samuel Adams Boston Lager? Most beer drinkers are, and many homebrewers have tried to emulate Samuel Adams Boston Lager. Here is a recipe that comes close:
Beer ingredients:
• 3.3 lbs. Light Malt Extract
• 2 lbs. Dry, Light Dry Malt Extract
• 12 oz. Crushed Carapils Malt
• 1 Lb. Flaked Rice
• 1 oz. each of Perle Hops and Saaz Hops (Bittering and finishing, respectively)
• 1 tsp. Irish moss
• Lager yeast
Homebrewing Process:
Add two gallons of water into your brewing kettle and then add the crushed grains by placing them first in steeping bags. Heat mixture to around 170 degrees and maintain at this temperature for about twenty minutes. Remove grains and heat to the boiling point. Next, add the light malt extract and the dry malt extract. Stir and return mixture to boil. Add Perle hops and boil for 60 minutes. When there are about 30 minutes remaining, add the Irish Moss. Once the full 60 minutes have passed, add the Saaz hops and boil for an additional 5 minutes. Cool the wort quickly before transferring to a glass carboy or other fermenting vessel containg three gallons of water. The remaining steps in the brewing process remain as normal.
I’m glad that you have published this recipee. Of course there are some of us that are fans of the Lager:D.
