Craft beer has come a long way and its influence continues to spread into areas once considered off- limits to beer. One such recent foray is ice cream and beginning Feb. 3, 2017, Graeter’s Ice Cream, will join forces with Braxton Brewing Co. to produce a new ice- cream inspired beer, Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip Milk Stout.
Graeter’s Ice Cream, a family owned operation, is a Cincinnati, Ohio mainstay with roots that trace all the way back to 1870. Braxton Brewing, located across the Ohio River in nearby Covington, Kentucky, is ready to harness Graeter’s experience and create unique and memorable brews. Braxton Brewing Co- Founder and CEO Jack Rouse sees the release of Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip Milk Stout as the beginning of a continuous and mutually rewarding business relationship.
“Collaborating with the Graeter’s team on this project has been a dream come true,” said Rouse. “Over the past six months, our teams have taken this project from imagination to one of the best tasting stouts we’ve ever created. We hope this is the first of many collaborations between the Braxton and Graeter’s Family and can’t wait for consumers to get their hands on this beer.”
Richard Graeter, CEO of Grater’s Ice Cream, views the partnership as a win- win not just for the two businesses, but for the greater Cincinnati community at large.
“We’re excited to partner with another local family company to create something truly unique,” says Graeter. “As a Cincinnati-grown company ourselves, we’re proud to support not only local companies, but also craft brands that are just as passionate about preserving their authenticity as we are.”
Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip Milk Stout is based on one of Graeter’s oldest traditional flavors, Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip. This traditional favorite is made with black raspberries from Oregon’s Willamette Valley along with gourmet bittersweet chocolate chips. Using Graeter’s exclusive black raspberry puree, Braxton Brewing Co. created this creamy, limited release stout.
To celebrate the collaboration between Graeter’s Ice Cream and Braxton Brewing, the brewery has a Tapping Party planned for February 3, 2017, at the tap room, 27 W. 7th Street in Covington, Kentucky. Beginning on February 6, the new beer will make its way to area Kroger stores and select other retailers in Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio as well as in Lexington and Louisville, Kentucky.
There was a time not too long ago when ice cream and beer were perceived as two completely incompatible consumer products, but the craft beer revolution has turned this and other long- held beliefs upside down. Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip Milk Stout is a testament to the ever- broadening craft beer landscape and it is certainly a beer worth seeking out if you happen to live in the greater Cincinnati area.
