Europe is hardly a newcomer to the world of beer. Germany, the Czech Republic, Britain, and other nations have long histories of brewing that date back hundred and even thousands of years. One European nation known more for its natural wonders than its beer scene is Iceland, but things are changing rapidly as Einstök Ölgerð, Iceland’s #1 craft beer company, continues to grow and flourish. And just recently, Einstok announced the return of its popular Arctic Berry Ale, now available in select states across the U.S.
Artic Berry Ale is a witbier flavored with Icelandic bilberries hand-picked just 40 miles south of the Arctic Circle. Arctic Berry Ale, while brewed in a place normally associated with low mercury readings and sheets of ice, is made with summer weather in mind, as its crisp, fruity flavor profile complements a summer cookout and several summer foods, among them fish and poultry, sushi, spicy food, Asian food, Latin food, Greek food, citrus salads and desserts. Einstok’s Managing Director, Gudjon Gudmundsson, says Arctic Berry Ale is made to complement the warm days, which in Iceland, are very short- lived.
“In Iceland, Sumardagurinn fyrsti is a phrase we use to signal the arrival of summer and warmer temperatures,” says Gudmundsson. “And the Arctic Berry Ale is one way locals like to relax and enjoy the fleeting warm outdoors with friends and family. We encourage all beer-lovers to try the unique Arctic Berry Ale before, like the warm weather in Iceland, it disappears until next summer.”
Berries are only part of the Arctic Berry Ale flavor profile. The beer also features flavors such as wheat, pilsner malts, oats, and Bavarian hops. As its base, the beer uses Einstok’s own Icelandic White Ale- a beer that has won awards, most recently taking home the Double Gold Medal at the International Beer Competition help in New York this past February.
Einstök’s Arctic Berry Ale is available in both cans and kegs at select retailers such as BevMo, Publix, Total Wine and others. To find Einstok beer near you, visit the Einstök Ale Locator.
I am not a beer drinker at all but it is always so interesting to tread the process and what goes in it to give it that taste.
ooh! This beer seems perfect and refreshing for summer! Is available only in specialty stores?
This brewery’s products are sold in only about 11 states. You would need to use their locator tool, on the web site, to see if it is sold somewhere near you.
