Several beer competitions have been canceled this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but others have found a way to carve out the time and physical space to see the events through to completion. One happens to the Oklahoma Craft Beer Awards, the inaugural competition sponsored by the Oklahoma State University School of Hospitality and Tourism Management.
Breweries across the state of Oklahoma were invited to submit beers into this competition, a contest that awarded Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals across multiple categories. The beers were judged and evaluated by certified Cicerones, certified beer judges, beverage directors, and beer writers.
Oklahoma School of Hospitality and Tourism Management Beverage Director Tony Collins said the event aimed to recognize the best beers brewed in the state and to inspire breweries to be all they can be.
“Our goal is to bring our local brewing industry together to identify and champion beers of quality and distinction from across the state and to create additional avenues for brand building for all award-winning breweries,” said Collins.
