Major League Baseball is nearing the end of another exciting season. In just a few days, the National League Championship Series and American League Championship Series will each be decided, determining who gets to move on to the final seven- game series and earn the title of World Series Champions for 2019.
The American League Championship Series features two of baseball’s best teams, the Houston Astros and New York Yankees. The Yankees have vastly more World Series exposure over their long history, but the Astros are the odds- on favorite to win the ALCS and the World Series crown.
With such strong contenders, it truly is any team’s series and to add additional fun to an already entertaining seven game matchup, Houston’s own Karbach Brewing, makers of the ever- popular Astros themed beer Crawford Bock and New York’s Blue Point Brewing, known for its Yankees beer Pinstripe Pils are going head- to- head in a battle of their own. This battle won’t be won during a taste- off, it will be won by the respective fans of the two teams who may get to sample the opposing team’s namesake brew depending on the outcome of the series.
The wager goes like this: If the Astros win the ALCS, the folks at Blue Point Brewing in New York will be serving Crawford Bock to the Yankee fans. If the Yankees win, the Karbach Brewing team will be brewing and serving Pinstripe Pilsner at the Karbach brewery in Houston.

As of today, October 15, 2019, the Astros lead the ALCS 2 games to 1. The Yankees took Game 1 with a dominant 7-0 pounding of the Astros at Minute Maid Park. The Astros roared back and took Game 2 in extra innings by a score of 3-2. Today, in Game 3, the Astros beat the Yankees handily in New York by a score of 4-1.
Two games remain in New York before the series heads back to Houston. If the Astros take the next two games in New York, there won’t be any need to play in Houston. But if the Yankees can win at least one of the next two games on their home field, then the ALCS will be decided in Houston.
Whatever way the series goes, the wager between Karbach Brewing and Blue Point Brewing means that one brewery is going to be serving its rival’s beer, adding additional pain to an already frustrating situation. But it’s all in fun and considering the quality of each beer, there are no real losers with a wager like this.
Continue to follow the American League Championship Series, root for your favorite team, and if you live in New York City or Houston, get ready to drink Crawford Bock or Pinstripe Pils on your opponent’s home turf!
This is good stuff. Cheers, and I think I would love to try both of these options. But, I am ready for Basketball season! Who will be in the finals and what will they be drinking?
The Houston Rockets will be there! Perhaps we will see a similar wager at that time.
I think this is a pretty cool idea to get fans involved in the outcome and give them something else to look forward to not to mention a great promotion for the company! Smart move.
Yes, a winning marketing move all- around. And after last night’s Astros victory, New Yorkers can now look forward to the taste of Karbach Crawford Bock!
I will have to pick some of this up today. It was such an upset that the Yankees didn’t win last night. 🙁
