Melvin Brewing, the award- winning brewery based out of Jackson, Wyoming, is ready to continue its eccentric collaborations in 2018. This time around, the partner brewery is none other than Rhinegeist Brewery, in Cincinnati, Ohio and the collaboration beer is called Experimental J- Hole, an out of this world IPA.
Ted Whitney, Melvin Brewing Sales Director, says collaborations are the greatest thing the craft beer industry has going, for reasons that go far beyond the beer itself.
“Collaborations are the liquid form of the best thing about craft beer,” said Whitney. “My favorites are about more than just the beer, we’re getting together and sharing killer ideas about beer and how we build companies that do a better job taking care of people and their communities.”
Experimental J- Hole is a complex Red IPA brewed with El Dorado, Centennial, and Simcoe hops to create a beer that features an aroma of stone fruit, candied cherry, and citrus with pine and resin notes. The flavor follows the nose, with tastes of grain and bread to provide balance. The beer weighs in at 7 percent alcohol by volume with 60 IBU of bitterness.
Bryant Goulding, co- founder of Rhinegeist Brewery, says the collaboration effort with Melvin Brewing exceeded expectations.
“Working with Melvin was an inspiring collaboration for us. Their creative energy and brewing sophistication took our joint collaboration experiment to the next level. We pushed the limits of dry hopping with this collaboration and enjoyed sharing the spirit of Jackson Hole with our market here at sea level,” said Goulding.
Experimental J- Hole is Melvin Brewing’s 8th collaboration in this ongoing series. The Wyoming brewery plans to extend its innovative partnerships to more breweries, including several on the East coast later this year. To keep up with the madness, visit online at https://melvinbrewing.com/
