Melvin Brewing, the award- winning brewery that first opened its doors in 2010 in the resort town of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, has expanded to a brand- new location: One that will help the brewery grow its influence in an eastward direction. The new location is at 110 Hilltop Village Center Drive in the St. Louis suburb of Eureka and it is the first Melvin Brewing location situated in the eastern half of the United States.
Melvin Brewing’s latest expansion brings the total locations to 3 and it follows the original location in Jackson, Wyoming and the second location in San Diego, California. This new brewery and brewpub can be found just minutes west of St. Louis and it covers 12,700 square feet, featuring a restaurant and brewery plus a game room and private event space. The interior dining area can hold up to 276 guests while an outdoor patio can seat an additional 50 guests. On the patio, customers can warm up next to the fire pit or shop in the adjacent retail store.
With the beer, this newest location sports 20 selections on tap with a brewhouse that is initially set to brew about 1,500 barrels. Packaging is part of the new Melvin Brewing location, too, and with loading docks right next to the brewhouse, Melvin will begin distribution of its products to 15 neighboring states. Fans of Melvin Brewing who live east of the Mississippi River need wait only a short time before Melvin Brewing products begin to show up in local stores and bars.
Moving to food, Melvin Brewing’s menu is focused on Asian- influenced pub fare, but in no way is the food limited to this type of cuisine. The menu is comprised of Small Bites, Burgers and Sandwiches, House Curry, Bowls and Noodles, Flatbreads, and Desserts. Some of the early crowd favorites include the Thai Poutine, which consists of hand cut fries, your choice of curry, mozzarella curds, and scallions. This appetizer packs great flavors and serves as a nice warmup to one of the main food dishes.
Speaking of the main food dishes and entrees, if you like Asian fare, you might want to go for the Okinawa Pork Belly. It is made with sweet sake braised pork belly, coconut sticky rice, baby bok choy, nori, sautéed seasonal vegetables, and egg. Or, if your preference leans more toward American fare, then the Drunken Master is a good choice. This burger is topped with sweet onion bacon jam and smoked gouda and it makes an excellent companion to several of Melvin Brewing’s beers.
Melvin Brewing’s Eureka, Missouri location is open 7 days per week. Sunday through Thursday hours are 11am to 10pm, Friday and Saturday hours are 11am to 11pm. Happy Hour runs Tuesday through Friday with excellent deals on house beers and appetizers. There are also some attractive Daily Specials offered during happy hour that offer a meal plus a house beer for a discounted price.
Melvin Brewing’s expansion to Missouri is great news for fans of this Wyoming- based chain because it signals the beginning of continued expansion of Melvin’s distribution to states east of the Mississippi. Until then, make your way west of St. Louis and check it out for yourself, if you get the opportunity.
