The Michigan Brewers Guild hosts multiple beer festivals each year and in 2020, the number is going to increase by one as the Michigan Brewers Guild Spring Beer Festival debuts in Traverse City on Saturday, May 16 from 1pm to 6pm.
Michigan Brewers Guild Executive Director Scott Graham says this new festival will help expand the geographic outreach so that more Michiganders are within easy driving distance from at least one of the festivals.
“Over the past 22 years, the Michigan Brewers Guild has prided itself on hosting the best beer festivals in the state,” says Graham. “We started with the Summer Beer Festival in 1998 and have grown over the years in terms of the number of events as well as participating breweries and attendees. Adding a festival in northern Michigan rounds out the geographical footprint for our events and we think there will be a lot of enthusiasm for the MBG Spring Beer Festival in Traverse City. We are very excited to partner with our friends in Traverse City – who we came to know while growing our Winter Beer Festival – in introducing this new event to all,” Graham added.
The Spring Beer Festival will be held at Traverse City’s 5,000 seat Pit Spitters Park, home to the Pit Spitters of the Northwoods collegiate wooden bat league. The venue is, of course, used primarily for sports, but Pit Spitters General Manager Mickey Graham wants to change this fact and the Spring Beer Festival is a great way to start.
“As we look to make Pit Spitters Park a venue that is host to events other than baseball games, a partnership with the Michigan Brewers Guild is a natural fit,” says Graham. “The Guild is known to execute first class events and their track record for these types of festivals is unparalleled. We look forward to making this an annual one that beer lovers from all over the state enjoy.”
With the new Spring Beer Festival on the 2020 calendar, the Michigan Brewers Guild is now host to a total of five beer festivals across the Great Lakes State. Here is a recap of the beer festivals scheduled for 2020, along with dates and locations:
