It’s great to be part of a successful business and in the world of craft breweries, there are many noteworthy success stories. Some of these upstart breweries have caught on quickly and expanded operations in a short time and a prime example is Milford Point Brewing, in Milford, Connecticut.
Milford Point Brewing has been open less than a year but rapid growth has necessitated expansion and just this week, the brewery received unanimous approval from the Milford Planning and Zoning Board to expand its business footprint. The expansion will double the size of the brewery and co- owner Chris Willett couldn’t be happier.
“Receiving approval to expand is a tremendous boon for our business,” said Willett. “Cheers to the Planning and Zoning Board, Mayor Blake, and to our customers in Milford — and beyond — who hopefully will continue to enjoy our locally brewed craft beers in our expanded space.”
Milford Point Brewing opened in April, 2018 and business has been brisk, but limited. The brewery has served the public through growler- filling for off site consumption and by offering small tasters of beer. However, the brewery has not been able to sell beer by the glass. This will change once the expansion takes place. Jerry Candido, Milford Point’s other co- owner, says the support the public and government leaders have shown is humbling, and encouraging and they can’t wait for the next phase of success to begin.
“We’re a local brewery that has always aimed to serve great-tasting craft beer to folks in Milford, and then branch out from there,” said Candido. “The support we’ve received from the community, our customers, and business and elected leaders across the city, has been humbling. We’re looking forward to embarking on this phase of growth, and most importantly, continuing to put forth a great product for our customers, the city, and beyond.”
Support for Milford Point Brewing’s expansion is widespread in this Connecticut town. Even competitors have come forward and voiced their approval. Bob Chicoine, co- owner of the soon to be opened Dockside Brewing Company also located in Milford, says the positive impact of craft beer on the community and local economy is a strong reason for everyone to support Milford Point Brewing’s expansion.
“I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Jerry and Chris, the owners of the brewery, and am confident that they’ll continue to do great things for the community as the brewery continues to grow, create jobs, and positively impact Milford’s economy,” said Chicoine.
Milford Point Brewing is doing all the right things and is easily one of the most successful startup craft breweries in the state of Connecticut. To keep up with the expansion’s progress, follow Milford Point Brewing on Facebook.
