COVID-19 has presented challenges to everyone and few have been impacted more than those who work in America’s vast hospitality service industry. This, of course, includes craft breweries, many of which have been struggling to keep their heads above water while they attempt to survive on drive- up, to- go sales of beer and merchandise.
Americans have responded in kind, visiting breweries to grab a growler, crowler, or six pack to go. Craft breweries have been fighting to survive, but in true community spirit, they have also strived to give back whenever possible. Charlotte’s NoDa Brewing Company is getting in on the action with a planned release of a new beer, Zuper Heroes. It’s a beer that celebrates America’s health care workers and the tireless hours they have sacrificed for the good of all. NoDa Brewing will donate 10 percent of all sales of this new beer to 22 and You, a fundraising effort that supports medical workers who are working around the clock to fight the COVID- 19 pandemic.
Suzie Ford, Founder and President of NoDa Brewing, says the decision to give back to these modern- day heroes fits perfectly with her brewery’s community focus.
“Making a positive impact in our community is a core Fundamental of our company. We live by this in good times and even more in challenging times,” said Ford. “In our own way, we want to pay tribute and say thank you to the first responders who are battling COVID-19 each and every day.”
Zuper Heroes is brewed in the style of a Czech Pilsner. It takes its name from the addition of American grown Zuper Saazer hops which, along with earthy and herbal Saaz hops, produce a flavor that is far more tantalizing than the usual pils. The new beer will be available starting Monday, April 13, 2020 at the NoDa Brew- Thru, which is located at 2921 N. Tryon Street in Charlotte. It will also be distributed to grocery stores and other beverage outlets where NoDa products are currently sold.
2020 has brought with it all sorts of unexpected challenges. No one would have predicted the United States would find itself in the throes of a pandemic and the lack of preparedness has taken a tremendous financial toll on many people and businesses. But in the midst of unforeseen chaos are countless heroes, working tirelessly to make the United States healthy once again. NoDa Brewing Zuper Heroes is a beer with a mission and an excellent way to contribute to the cause. Look for it starting April 13, and show your support to medical responders and others like them as they fight to offer care to those in need and work toward bringing an end to the COVID-19 pandemic.
