Colorado’s Odell Brewing has announced the addition of a new member to the brewery’s year- round product lineup. The latest to join the family is Witkist Grapefruit White Ale, a modern take on a Belgian White Ale with added grapefruit, orange peel, and coriander.
Odell Brewing COO Brendan McGivney says this new beer helps to expand Odell’s portfolio while also staying true to the brewery’s reputation for hop- forward and other flavors.
“American craft beer is all about bending the rules. While we enjoy a classic Belgian Wit, we thought about how we’d share our take on style,” said McGivney. “The addition of fresh grapefruit puree was exactly what we were looking for. The tart grapefruit perfectly complements the sweet esters of Belgian yeast.”
One year ago, Odell Brewing debuted another beer that was also a twist on a style growing in popularity. That beer, Sippin’ Pretty Fruited Sour, was a great success and it showed that the idea of taking a specific beer style and modifying it in an ‘Odell’ fashion can, indeed, produce great results.
“The response from Sippin Pretty has been incredible,” said McGivney. “While we’ll always love experimenting with IPAs, Sippin’ Pretty showed us that the flavor profiles of beer are endless and by exploring them we’re inviting more fans into the craft beer community.”
Witkist Grapefruit White Ale weighs in at a modest 5 percent alcohol by volume. It will be available in 6- packs of 12 oz. cans and on draft in places where Odell beer is presently sold.
