Odell Brewing markets many successful, year round brands, but this isn’t enough to convince the Colorado- based brewery to rest on its laurels. Odell is still experimenting with new flavors, new ingredients, and new brewing techniques and its latest efforts have resulted in another addition to the Odell year- round family: Mountain Standard IPA.
This newest Odell offering contains a moderate 6.5 percent alcohol by volume and is brewed using Cashmere, Sabro, and Strata hops- three varieties that are lesser known and that impart tropical aromas such as pineapple, mango, and orange. Mountain Standard IPA is triple dry hopped, resulting in a beer that overflows with hoppy character without being excessively bitter.
Odell Brewing Chief Operating Officer Brendan McGivney says this new variation is the result of several test runs and he is confident that consumers will be happy with the outcome.
“There are West Coast IPAs and New England IPAs, but this is our take on the Mountain Style IPA,” explains McGivney. “We learned a lot with recent releases like Drumroll, New Dawn, Cloud Catcher, and pilot brews at our new RiNo Brewhouse. They all had a role in shaping this new beer.”
Most every beer lover is familiar with Odell Brewing’s original IPA. First released in 2007, Odell IPA quickly picked up a Gold Medal at both the Great American Beer Festival and the World Beer Cup. It also reigns as the top selling IPA in the state of Colorado. Still, top seller or not, Odell Brewing will continue to release more variations on the IPA, America’s most popular craft beer style.
“Odell IPA will always be one of our greatest achievements, but over the last 12 years we‘ve continued experimenting with new hops and techniques,” says McGivney. “American IPA’s will always be a category of innovation, and we’re finally ready to share our take on the future of this style in the Rockies.”
Odell Mountain Standard IPA will be priced similarly to Odell’s other core brands and will be sold in draft and in six packs of cans. Look for this new Odell product beginning February 25th, 2019, in places where Odell beer is currently sold. For more info please visit www.odellbrewing.com.
The new MS is nasty, bring back the old recipe
I have yet to try the newer version. I hope it’s better than you say, but I’m prepared for the worst.
